Review: '12 Years a Slave' magnificent

18 October 2013 | 10:47 pm Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave is an agonizingly magnificent movie: the first great big-screen dramatization of slavery. Based on actual events, it begins in 1841 and tells the story of a free black man from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., a musician named Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who walks around in a natty gray suit, secure in the courtly modesty of his life as a husband and father of two … http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/18/showbiz/movies/12-years-a-slave-review-ew/index.html

JW’s, Will Russell Serve As A King And Ruler, One Of The Anointed Class? I have read over and over again that the anointed class started with the 120 in the upper room and all the apostles were members of this anointed class. This number has continued to grow over the years and today there are about 12,000 members of the anointed class that celebrate the Lords Evening Meal.

As Russell was the founder of the Bible Students, today know as the JW’s and he alone was responsible for giving food at the proper time [the faithful and discrete slave] to all the other sheep, it is clear that he was one of the anointed class.

The society now teaches [because of light getting brighter] that Christ did not appoint the faithful and discrete slave until 1919 when He approved the society as the FDS.

This being the case, was Russell a false leader, claiming to be the FDS and distributing the food at the proper time?

How could a man, dead when Christ made the society the FDS, act as the FDS and give food at the proper time?

Would this explain why he taught satanic teachings for most of 50 years, about the Great Pyramid being God’s bible is stone to have it now called a building by Satan?

Has this brighter light shown the early teachings of the society to be a total farce?

It is noteworthy that this “new brighter light” stops short of expressly naming “the Governing Body” as the Faithful Slave – rather as a “group” of anointed brothers serving at Watchtower headquarters, who else could this refer to but only be applied to the Governing Body in our present day.

  • PT says:

Do You Think My Hate For My Mother/family/parents Justified? Truth majority of my life I have grown in a middle class family, but with rather strict and probably stupid mother. There were numerous punishments some would be considered torture (“I was forced to kneel on frozen peas and hold 5 books with my hands up over my head. If I would to put my hands down it would be another hour added or I would be hit with something”). I was also hit with whatever was at hand.

Cooking spatulas and wooden cooking utensils, belts, school books, plastic/wooden or metal clothes hangers and a mini plastic hockey stick. Over the years of such abuse I ended up hating my mother to the point where at times I would not blink to kill her. But I am a reasonable and logical person. And I would not go that far for some piece of trash who dares to call her self my mother.

And by all means I wasn’t abused because I pissed my parents off or anything. I was always a silent and introverted child, I spend most of my off school time in the house reading or doing things on computer. Even so I was always expected to watch my 2 year old brother (“I was 11 at the time”) for whole days, vacuum the house every day and do all other chores. Which I did since they were not a drag or anything to me. But I find that even being 21, I am still treated like a slave, my brother being 12 now gets away with doing nothing, and I have to cleanup, do dishes and all others after I come back from 8 hour work day. Saturdays everyone leaves and expects me to clean the home all by myself, while they do there own stuff. And I find that pathetic, since I am sick to the point of snapping at most pointless things.

Being honest, treating their own child like crap did not do much, but made me hate my family and my parents to the extend of not carrying if they died or not. To me there life’s and there existence has became worthless. And at moment I wan’t to go back home after work, but in same time I don’t. As I have no desire to see any of them, talk to them or be related to them in any way.

In your view is my hatred justified or am I just taking this bit too personal. Being unbiased here, they brought it upon self’s with treating me like crap, abusing me, taking their anger out on me and double standaring me, making my brother whos a complete moron and idiot seem like he is way better then I ever was in life.

    Thanks in advance.
Forgot to mention, I have grown away from my mother since childhood, she lived overseas while I lived back in Europe. Ones I came to her all this started.
    @bobinhood Thanks for answering mate.

@Jeremy I rather just move out and have them enjoy there remaining days being taken care by my brother who they so much care about and put great hopes on. Because I know he will not care about them and will put them to die in a retirement home. But ones I can financially secure my self, I am leaving this hell hole, changing my first/last name, changing my number and breaking any ties with them or any of folks who know them. In part they can do whatever they want and will never be able to find me again. In my view thats a much better payback then disrespecting their bodies.

I don’t care about them anymore, but I still have morals views on death, even being an Atheist who comes from dysfunctional Orthodox family.

If it’s showing in my area, I checked and it’s not playing at either of the two movie theaters close to me this weekend

I agree. I’ve seen Hunger and Shame and they were both magnificent works of art

World System Vs God’s System? Do you think the world system we live in right now is fair or/and just? Do you think we can replace it with God’s rules and it will still work?

    • Curator says:

Don’t borrow from other nations. Deuteronomy 15:6.

Personal debt wiped clean in 7 years. Deuteronomy 15:1-4, 12.

      No eminent domain. Deuteronomy 19:14.

Don’t loose uncorrectable and unrepentant criminals into the streets. No profit-making / corrupt prison systems. Deuteronomy 21:18-21, where it reads “son”, not “child”.

Under Biblical “slavery”, a person who was in debt could cancel his debt within seven years. Leviticus 25:39-43. Deuteronomy 15:1-3, 12. A person could not be sold as mere merchandise. Exodus 21:16. Deuteronomy 24:7.

Under today’s “slavery”, a person could be in debt for decades, if not for their entire life.

Under Biblical “slavery”, a slave that is injured is set free. Exodus 21:26.

Under today’s “slavery”, if you lose your hand, the insurance company might help you find it. Then, you go to work with your other hand.

Under Biblical “slavery”, a thief who did not make restitution was sold as a slave. Exodus. 22:3.

Under today’s “slavery”, a thief can be imprisoned, allowing the tax payer to flip the bill for his stay and to feed the corrupt prison industries.

Under Biblical “slavery”, if he was a slave by choice (i.e. not a thief), he could end his slavery. Deuteronomy 23:15.

Under today’s “slavery”, the IRS and the collections will hunt you down no matter where you go, and you will not escape.
