Yes because they will have 2 more impressive wins if that happens. They would have to beat Duke,Syracuse and North Carolina to win ACC.Not all 3 but at least 2 of them.

I Feel Like I’m Failing School? Am I failing school?

I’m a high school sophomore and I am extremely ambitious and I hope to apply to schools such as Stanford, Cornell, UC Berkeley, and UCLA. But I am freaking out over my grades and I feel like everything I do is not enough. This is what my transcript looks like.

    8th Grade: Algebra I: B, A

    Freshman Year: English I Acc: A, A
    French I: A, A
    Biology: A, A
    Geometry: B, A
    World History: A, A
    Orchestra: A, A
    Drama: A, A
    Health/CCP: A, A

Sophomore year (1st semester only): Chemistry: A, English II Acc: A, French II: A, AP European History :A, Orchestra: A, Physical education:A, and Algebra II Trig: B

So I have 3 B’s on my transcript so far and I am having a panic attack. Is it no longer worth considering the likes of Stanford and Cornell, let alone the UC’s?

Extracurricular Activities: I play cello in orchestra, piano lessons, CSF member, Key club, speech and debate, model united nations, rotary club, I volunteer at the library weekly, IMPACT (leadership program), I take a few dance classes, part of a student volunteer program at a hospital, and member of a local speech and debate league after competing at a tournament,

NEXT YEAR: I plan on trying out for mock trial, applying for NHS, becoming v.p of my speech and debate club, and joining this youth committee council. I am also looking to get a job over the summer.

By the time I graduate, I will have taken 10 AP classes because I understand that prestigious universities want you to take rigorous courses.

I’m also the first generation in my family to attend college and I am extremely ambitious and love learning and I hope to emphasize my passion for learning in my admission essays and I will talk about the difficulties of dealing with certain family problems.

With all of the above considered, do you think I have a decent chance at getting into a reputable university despite the B’s on my transcript? I understand there is no guarantee and that a lot of overqualified applicants are constantly rejected.

**I also hope to apply to Stanford on Early Decision because there’s less competition.

    • Curator says:

I think that your basically straight A grades will be enough to get you into the colleges you wish to attend. I personally think that you are overdoing it with all your extracurriculars, which might be the cause of those few B grades.
