Help Me Solve This Poisson Distribution Problem? According to Flightststs.com, US airways bumped, on average, 4.49 passengers per 10000 during 2009. Assume that the number of passengers bumped follows the Poisson distribution.

    (a) what is the probability that, over the next 10000 passengers, nobody will be bumped?

    (b) what is the probability that, over the next 5000 passengers, less than 3 passengers will be bumped?

I’ve Seen The Light! I’m With You Dudes On This Whole Bundy Deal. Where Can I Sign Up For The Militia? 1st thing we need to do bros, is cut the military / military budget by about 70 percent and limit their mission to just protecting our shores and airways – bring the legions home and stop playing world cop! This would limit the threat that the state poses to us patriots by almost 2/3rds!!

2nd we need to dismantle all of these security state Orwelian national gestapos like the NSA, the DEA, the PDQ and whatever else armed fed police-state gov department you can think of.

3rd We need to reverse the militarization of local law enforcement agencies by #1 Ending the drug war which drives the militarization of the police. And 2. limiting their weaponry to just pistols and maybe shotguns and retraining them to deal with threats with non lethal force first and deadly force as a last resort like it’s always been prior to the drug war.

I got a lot more militia bros, but that should get us a good start dudes!

Do You Think Airlines Should Have The Right To Kick Overweight People Out Of Flights? Before anything, I don’t mean to offend anyone who is overweight. So if you’re overweight and easily offended please don’t read this.

Here’s the story. My mom was talking about that actor from the blindside, Quinton Aaron who got kicked off a US airways flight.
She was saying how it was rude and disrespectful to kick out overweight people no matter what their social status is. I disagreed, I shared my opinion with her aaaand she went erm batshit.. She literally didn’t want to look me in the eye for like a good 30mins.

As I typed down earlier, I don’t mean to offend anyone who is overweight, in fact I used to have problems with my weight as well.

So here’s my opinion. When you purchase a ticket (at least economy) doesn’t most airlines ensure and guarantee your comfort in-flight? If you’re sitting beside someone who is overweight, crowding up your space, and making you feel uncomfortable, dosen’t the airline have the right to kick the person out OR change his/her or your seat? I mean have you ever seen the news about the guy who apparently smelled bad and had to be kicked of the aircraft? And everyone on that flight seemed to be pleased with him getting kicked out! But when an overweight person gets kicked out everyone seems to go batshit. I don’t get it… Maybe it’s just the way society thinks. If you’re disruptive on an aircraft and get kicked out everyone is happy, if an overweight person gets kicked out an aircraft YOU’RE the bad guy..

  • Are There Any Non-stop Flights From Chicago To The Virgin Islands? I heard that United Airlines offers seasonal non-stop flights to St. Thomas from Chicago O’Hare, but when I went to book my flights I couldn’t find any. I also tried the US Airways website but didn’t find anything either.

Does anyone know of an airline that has non-stop service from Chicago to any airport in the Virgin Islands this summer?
Artemisc — I checked Expedia just now … there are no non-stop flights to St. Thomas (STT) from O’Hare on any airline … only one or two stops before arriving in the US Virgin Islands.

Did you mean O’Hare to St. Thomas? If not, what airport are you referring to? Thanks.
here are no non-stop flights to St. Thomas (STT) from O’Hare on any airline *in July* — what are the dates you are talking about?
Gerd P – Before I give you 10 pts how is it that you know so much?

Non-stop United flights only operate on Saturdays; during the week there are none and you need to change planes at St. Juan, Puerto Rico.

US Airways International Flight Check In Time? I’m going from MSP-PHL-LHR on April 14. My mom and I plan on leaving the airport, as we have an event to attend that we cannot miss. It’s rather close by the airport, only 1-2 miles away. But, I think the soonest we can get back is 815, latest by 830. Our int’l flight to LHR is at 9:50pm. Since we would already be checked in from the first flight, we don’t need to recheck ourselves in at the kiosk or counter, do we? I understand we’ll need to go through security, and I hope there won’t be much of a line due to the later time. What time do I need to be through security and be at the gate, so that they don’t give away my seats?

Plus, can they tell if you leave the airport anyways?
