Klapisch: Cool Bobby Valentine starting to sweat in Boston from all the heat

Fri, 20 Apr 2012 20:30:35 -0700 If Bobby Valentine had ever wondered what his worst day at Yawkey could feel like, this was it. Not only were the Sox promptly flattened after celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first game played at Fenway, Terry Francona received the loudest ovation of any of the 212 former players and managers.

Bobby Valentine, Red Sox Still Off the Mark As Early-Season …

It's understandable if Red Sox Nation is getting a bit antsy. With the Sox sitting at 4-9 and showing little fight early on this season, one has to wonder if they have what it takes to contend in the American League East. Boston's …

Was Bobby Valentine About To Cry When Karl Ravech Asked A Question To Him At The Press Conference? I think he was. Obviously, it was a very hard to decision for him to leave ESPN. He was probably remembering that his ESPN days are over. For now. Also, do you like the Red Sox move to hire Valentine?

  • Bill Bobby Valentine Be The Next Skipper Of The Boston Red Sox? BQ – with Bobby as Skipper will the Red Sox win 135 games in 2012?

Signs are now up in the Clubhouse: No Chicken, No beer, No games therefore the Sox are LOCKS for World Series 2012!!!

Do You Thin Bobby Valentine Would Have Been The Greatest CF If He Hadn’t Hurt His Shoulder? He played all out and still does a good job as manager in Japan.
@Utter Chaos – If he hadn’t hurt his shoulder running into the wall, he wouldn’t have JUST been a Utility player.
Youhave to agree that his houlder injury also hurt his batting average. :-)D
OK OK so Willie Mays is the best CF ever.

    • Curator says:

Not the greatest CF, mainly because he was not a great hitter, but he certainly would have made some great memories with spectacular catches. Probably of the Jim Edmonds and Torii Hunter mode – very good players who are not HOF material but certainly worthy of all-star game appearances.

Don’t underestimate his managerial skills in MLB either – look at his work with the 1998-2001 Mets.

  • Am I The Only One That Thinks Bobby Valentine Is Terrible On Sunday Night Baseball? He always seems to trip over himself, doesn’t know how to explain things and has really dumb ideas or comments. Espn really has to look into getting someone else in there imo.

    • Curator says:

Bobby Valentine is a baseball genius. Maybe it doesn’t all come out right when he’s speaking or something, but he’s a GREAT baseball manager. He brought the Mets to the World Series when they had what looked to be a 3rd place team at best. The guy’s a lot of fun and knows a lot about baseball. Definitely a better manager than he is a broadcaster though LOL.

Will Bobby Valentine Tear The Mets Apart During Tonight’s Nationally Televised Game? Bobby V should. I am sure that the National audience will want to hear Bobby V’s prescription to fix the ailing Mets.

    • Curator says:

He was fair-minded and appropriately complimentary towards Terry Collins and the Mets. K-Rod made it interesting in the 9th inning, but the Mets hung on for the win. I think their record is 28-31 now, which is amazing given the bare bones pitching staff and injuries to Ike and Wright. R.A. Dickey threw a great game tonight. This Mets team has a lot of heart. Its a shame more fans aren’t out there at Citifield to support them. It looked like an Indians home game there were so many empty seats.

      Take care.

    • Curator says:

Valentine has knowledge, he can motivate with passion and knowledge to light a fire under his team. Though he is a little crazy…
Indians need to use money to get a team for him to coach as well. I have no idea who they’ll end up with Acta, Fryman and Mattingly in the hunt as well.
I do believe it would be a mistake for the Indians to take Acta, hopefully they don’t make that mistake. Bobby from the list of choices is the best one in my opinion though.
