What Artist Performs This Piece? This is the chorus…
“I wake up in the morning thinking about you, thinking about you. And I go to bed when the night comes, thinking about you. I must be in love.

Bridge – I must be in love. I think I’m falling for youuuuuuu.

This is a female with a voice that has some weight and real vocal skills. Inflections similar to Chaka Khan. In the production, there are “real” instruments and very melodic background vocals. The intro sound like Barry White’s “Cant get enough of your love babe”.

    Thanks in advance.

Could You Provide Me With Some Hints? Last week, a gentleman, friend of mine invited me to a Latin jazz concert coming up. Of course as soon as I heard Latin music, I said YES, I’LL Come! Then he said after all, we shouldn’t always stop our lives for others, we should have fun too. So I said well ok if you say so. But as days go by, I’m starting thinking about what he said and I started to feel uncomfortable. This man is wayyy older than I am and I don’t want him to think I accepted a date. I’m not sure what he has in mind. Any way, what can I do to give him a hint that this is not a date. First I’m planning to get there with my own car therefore no drinking. But what else would you do? I’m just going for fun. The artist who is playing was nominated for one of the leading percussionist. He has recorded and toured with Miles Davis, the Brecker Brothers, Michel Camilo (who wrote the tune ‘And Sammy Walked In’ in his honor), Chaka Khan, David Bowie, and Mariah Carey.. Any way I can’t canceled. That gentleman is a nice friend, I don’t want to be rude or anything. I just don’t want any misunderstanding. So help please! Oh, the tickets were offered by another friend of ours who works at the place.
**He has been single for a while now and going to some depression. A friend of mine (girl) tried to set him up on a blind date with a girlfriend of hers but he was insulted and told her he can find someone by himself. So that is what I heard about him. He is not a player rather he takes things very seriously. That’s why I don’t want any misunderstanding. I can guess what his intentions are, I can’t read his mind. I’m just going for the music and nobody gets hurt. That’s all!
I’m weird you say? lol I heard that before……
    Facade@thank you!
Update! I took a girlfriend his age with me. Hee hee! I got there first and he had this BIG smile on his face but when he saw girlfriend behind me, his face changed to not happy at all. After the concert, which was unbelievable, we met Sammy, he came down the stage and grabbed my arm, asking me if I live around here cause he is looking for some property to buy. LOL. I told him ,you do want to live where people appreciate that kind of music. We talk a bit about his career with Carey, Bowie and others. He is very funny and friendly person. Un Latino, of course! Meanwhile my friend (the gent) was not happy I was getting all the attention. I thanked him for inviting us. But I did found out from my girlfriend that he did ask questions about me regarding my love life. So I will keep a distance and just keep in touch……
UKS@ You’re right he was a perfect gentleman and I didn’t expect over wise from him. But my instinct was confirmed. He is a good friend and I don’t want to hurt his feelings by sending the wrong signals. Thanks, the concert was Sambatic!! Sammy and his band gave us a great show!

    • Curator says:

Sammy Figueroa is an awesome Drummer. You simply must go see the show! I wish I were going, but of course it is too far to travel there.

Your friend probably already understands you are attending with him for the joy of Jazz. You have not implied anything more — Jazz is certainly reward enough for living well.

Do not worry about it. If he does think you have additional intentions, then a simple declaration of your meaning should suffice. “Thank you for helping me appreciate more Jazz!” should be adequate.

Enjoy. … And please post how it went.

Added Sunday morning: I am so glad you enjoyed the concert. Thanks for posting the update. I think you handled you friend’s feelings well in the situation. Perhaps he and your other friend will hit it off after all.

    • Curator says:

Actually, you have very little blues listed. What you have is primarily jazz, R&B, and soul. Records are graded according to one of several standard scales to determine value, Goldmine’s being the most respected. Although they may appear to be in great shape, that can be misleading. Some records look awful but actually play fairly clean, while others can look great and sound terrible. If you don’t have the time, equipment, or knowledge to grade them aurally, you can still grade them visually according to an accepted standard, but you will always get less for visually graded vinyl. Nothing you listed seems to be of any great value, I would suspect the best you’ll do is 5-15 dollars apiece. Your best bet may be to take them to a local record store that deals in used vinyl and see what they offer-never take their first offer, bargain. You will always get more in trade, if that interests you.
