2014 Earthquakes? Why are there many earthquakes all of a sudden ? I don’t want to sound like a complete nut, but recently there has been an outbreak. Now Chile has got a 8.0 Mag. earthquake. Is there a scientific theory for what going on, please no bible related theories. Thanks 🙂

  • Can A Spanish Speaker Translate For This For Me? (I DON’T Want Google Translate)? Thanks in advance ^.^

In Chile, a large earthquake has hit it’s eastern coast last Tuesday. This also caused a minor tsunami. Many buildings were destroyed and many cities are without power.

When Was The Last Time The Philippines Was Struck By A Major Earthquake? I’m talking about one 6.0 or more. Little ones happen all the time. Most of the time they are out in the deep part of the ocean.
I think there was one recently as last year or so that did a lot of damage.
There has been a lot of seismic activity recently in The Ring of Fire. Not the minor damage kind but some heavy rock and rolling. We had one here in So Cal last week that really shook things up. There was a more recent one in northern Chile last night. It triggered a Tsunami.
The Philippines sits directly on The Ring of Fire. If you care to look it up.
There is more seismic activity in The Ring of Fire than anywhere else in the world.
There are major and minor fault lines throughout the Philippines. There are active and dormant volcanoes in the Philippines.
I think people should have an awareness of this and be prepared ahead of time, just in case.
Could someone please post a map of The Ring of Fire for those unaware of it.
    Thank You

How Come More Countries Can’t Agree On Using A Uniform Radix Character? I’m watching CNN Chile right now and their coverage of the recent “8,2” magnitude earthquake that occurred a couple hours ago. In their country (and many more around the world), they prefer using ‘,’ instead of ‘.’ as their chosen decimal mark. Here’s a list of countries and their preferred marks: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:DecimalSeparator.svg

How come more countries can’t agree on a single character, especially when it comes to a language that’s truly universal like mathematics? ISO standards call for a “thin space” for digit grouping instead of ‘,’ so I would be happy to abide by that. Have I done enough to convince others in my country that “Metric” is so much superior than “US standard”? Probably not.

    Are we our own problem?
