"Chimpanzee,"the latest Disney nature film, might as well be called "Simply Irresistible," because thanks to the mischievous monkeyshines of a baby chimp named Oscar, it comes pretty close.,0,3324092.story?track=rss

The Western chimpanzee found in central and west Africa in the states of Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Nigeria has the population between 21,000 and 55,000.

The Central chimpanzee found in Central Africa in the states of Gabon, Cameroon, Congo, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Angola (Cabinda enclave), south-east Nigeria, coastal extension of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has the population between 47,000 and 78,000 individuals.

Common chimpanzees are Endangered under a strict application of the IUCN Red List Criteria. In parts of West Africa their subpopulations have become small and highly fragmented, and therefore the two most western subspecies can readily be categorized as Endangered, especially given the long generation time of the great apes. The central and eastern subspecies are hunted in many areas, although in East Africa such hunting is still at a relatively low level. Logging is disturbing the forest habitat of many central chimpanzee populations, but often not removing forest completely. Robust Chimpanzees occur in many national parks, some of which, like the Mahale Mountains, Tanzania, are relatively large and secure. But even Mahale contains less than 1,000 chimpanzees.

      Wstimated numbers:
      CHIMPANZEE – 203,000 Est.
      Eastern chimpanzee 76,400-119,600 Est.
      Western chimpanzee 21,300-55,600 Est.
      Central chimpanzee 70,000-116,500 Est.
      Nigeria chimpanzee 5,000-8,000 Est. ♥

The better known chimpanzee is Pan troglodytes, the Common Chimpanzee, living primarily in West, and Central Africa. >>Western chimpanzees are found in the following states: Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Nigeria.
      >>Central chimpanzee are found in Afrotropical states of Central Africa: Gabon, Cameroon, Congo, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Angola (Cabinda enclave), south-east Nigeria, coastal extension of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Its cousin, the Bonobo or “Pygmy Chimpanzee” as it is known archaically, Pan paniscus, is found in the forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Congo River forms the boundary between the two species.♥

How Do People Feel About That Chimpanzee Attacking That Woman In Connecticut? I live in the actual city where it happened, and I see theres mixed reviews. Some people say the woman should’nt have even owned the chimpanzee and shes irresponsible.I think it took a lot of courage for her to stab the chimpanzee she had raised as a child.Do you think people should be allowed to own exotic pets?

    • Curator says:

Wow,I’ve just read that and think its a desperately sad story. Looks like the chimp just flipped and nearly killed someone and then injured two police officers.Chimps can be unpredictable and aren’t always these cuddly furry animals dressed in nappies.
I cant really judge her on whether she should have owned him or not.but with any exotic animal there is always a risk these sorts of things can happen

  • What Food Item Would You Fight An Enraged Chimpanzee Over To The Death For? I wouldn’t fight one at all. I’d just go to the store later and buy another one. It’s an enraged chimpanzee for crying out loud! Those things can disembowel a person.

    • Curator says:

      Do I have a weapon???

Those things are 10x my strength pound for pound… and I’m strong… I dunno… think I’d need to use my human mind to fashion a tool and kill it the way it should be done… for a lobster of course.

What Is Your Opinion Of The Cartoon With The Chimpanzee And Stimulus Bill? I feel it’s discrimnating and knowing Barack Obama just signed the bill and there was a wild chimpanzee, it’s just not right.

    *Be Specific

    • Curator says:

I think Sharpton just wanted to get in front of a camera and stir up crap and show just how uninformed he is. Obama didn’t write the bill, congress did and only a liberal would be so stupid as not to know who wrote this crap bill they all love for $13/wk.

Even if the monkey did represent Obama, and it doesn’t, and if people are so upset about people being drawn as monkeys why didn’t he say a word any of the times Bush was drawn that way. See link below. Obama should be treated exactly the same as Bush, when you treat people differently because of their skin color THAT is racism.

This is standard operating procedure for libtards whenever they don’t like something call it racist.
For the past month whenever anyone was critical of Obama they have been called racist. We do have the right to freedom of speech and press and since this great nation was born political satire has been an important part of it. These people are just idiots, Al Sharpton will find racism in a fire hydrant.

How Can I Get A Chimpanzee As A Pet In Puerto Rico? I always wanted to adopt a chimpanzee but i live in Puerto Rico, how can i do it?Or a monkey or anything related to that,I just always wanted to take care of one, they`re so cute and humanlike!

  • Diamond says:

How Do I Find Out About Chimpanzee Adaptations? How do I go about researching chimpanzee’s adaptations? Or do you know a specific adaptation or place where I can find adaptations?

    • Curator says:

Chimps have developed several behavioral adaptations. At night chimps construct nests of leaves and branches 18-29 feet high in a tree. Males will hunt cooperatively for baby monkeys or bush pigs. Some groups have been observed to use thin twigs or blades of grass to extract termites from their nests. Some chimps in western Africa use wood and stone tools as hammers to open nuts.
