Hurra! for Cinco de Mayo

Mon, 23 Apr 2012 13:48:59 -0700 When May 5, or Cinco de Mayo, rolls around in Mexico, it barely gets a buenos dias. Its a minor holiday there, commemorating the Mexican Armys 1862 victory over French troops at the Battle of Puebla. http://www.keepmecurrent.com/food_etc/hurra-for-cinco-de-mayo/article_26195c64-8d7b-11e1-a4cf-001a4bcf887a.html

Advice About A Girl I Like Please? I go to college in Columbia, MO at Mizzou, 2 hours away from St. Louis where I met this girl I really like. I met her through a mutual friend, and so far we have taken a shower together and she took me home with her another night and we made out and stuff. She has me whipped already! And there is nothing I can do about it, she is a 10 and she knows it.
I have done a couple stupid things like write on her facebook wall while drunk that she had killer eyes, and she texted me smiley faces and stuff when I was drunk and I told her I missed her already haha.
My question is how should I play this? I won’t be back to St. Louis for 2 weeks and it’s been a week and a half since we texted last. I will be back in St. Louis for Cinco de Mayo, May 5th. Should I ask her to go out with me and my friends, or should I talk to her girlfriends (mutual friends) and try to plan something. I was thinking of texting her next Monday and saying something like, “Hey, Cinco de Mayo is this Saturday, plans yet?”or should I wait later, and call her? Any advice would be nice!

Whats A Good Movie With A Mexican Theme To It? Gonna have a Cinco de Mayo get-to-gether with some girlfriends…what are some good movies with Mexico in them? I am thinking Fools Rush In, or maybe Frida….don’t want any men type westerns or anything.

Do You Think He Likes Me? (Sorry If This Is Long)? So there’s this guy, we’ll call him James. James is 17, I’m 16 and we’re a grade apart. I met him in Spanish club and we’ve been talking ever since. He asked for my number a couple months ago and although he rarely texts me our conversations are pretty good. For example, the other day he texted this: “Hey just a reminder tomorrow is Spanish club! Please try to make it otherwise let me know.” (pretty sure that was a group text because right after) he sent “Also welcome to NHS :-)” because he knew I had just been inducted and he was already a member. I told him I’d be at our meeting and asked about volunteer hours for NHS so he invited me to an Interact meeting the next morning and offered to get me an officer position blah blah blah. So I told him I’d go and he said “I shall see you there(:” to which I replied “Yes you shall but I have to go study for my history test right now(:” so he wished me good luck on it.
I showed up for the Interact meeting the next day on time and he came in a lot late, so I chastised him for it and he gave a sincere apology which I believed because he looked really tired and upset that he had let me down.
Then at our Spanish club meeting we decided to present a traditional Mexican dance to the Spanish classes for Cinco de Mayo. James picked out the Jarabe Tapatio and asked me to be his partner. When he was teaching me the first part of the dance he kept putting emphasis on how the guy is trying to get the girl. I may just be reading into that a bit too much but something tells me that he picked that specific dance for a reason since he had a wealth of dances to choose from. He was really sweet while dancing with me, politely pointing out things I needed to fix. He actually got kind of jealous when another guy asked to borrow me for a second. I don’t think he knew it but his face showed his reluctance to let me go.
Also as a bit more background info he has offered to help me study for my AP exam because he took the class last year. Sometimes I sit with him at lunch to work on stuff for the class and as soon as I walk over he’ll finish his sentence and then ignore his friends for the duration of me being there. His friend actually had to do a little *cough cough I’m still here* in order for him to introduce us.
I really think he likes me but I’m not all that sure why he hasn’t made a move. What do you think?

What Are Some Traditional Mexican Music For Cinco De Mayo? My brother is joining this Cinco de Mayo thing in his school, and he wants to practice at home. Then, he complains he wants music. (He’s only 8.) So, are there any instrumental songs for Cinco de Mayo that you can name of? I would really appreciate if you could. I will make you the best answer is you get the song right of what he’s dancing to.

(Also, there is no singing in the music he is dancing to. There is just music)

Question About New Sod Care? We laid new sod around our house yesterday. The house that I live at has a tradition of hosting a fire spinning show every Cinco de Mayo (two weeks from now). Our plan is to, immediately before the show, lay tarps on the sod, cover the tarps in a thick layer of water soaked hay, have the fire show on top of that (which lasts about an hour), then immediately remove the hay and the tarps. Will this be sufficient in protecting the 2 week old sod? There would be no more than 5 people, spaced out, within the area of the new sod at a time. Fire is not my concern, the trampling/wear and tear is.
