    Peitersen Gets The Boot,can England Afford To Do That? We all know he’s an idiot of sorts,but was he not one of the better batsmen during their recent Ashes tour? Comments?
    * Pietersen

    • Curator says:

      I agree with you..He was the best batsman of England during the Ashes series..Although his average wasn’t great to speak about he batted better than all his teammates in the tour..I think the boot has got to do with something other than form,his cold war with flower may be the reason or I read in Cricinfo that there are rumours coming out that he had some kind of dispute with his some of his teammates during the Ashes..We have to wait and see what truth comes to the surface,it’s certainly a loss for England..

  • Should Dhoni Bat At No.5? What Do You Think Of This Article? I think he should, unless Yuvraj Singh finds his good old form again, ah, hadn’t it been cancer, I guess he would have always been a regular in our team.
    And, even Yuvraj isn’t an expert in handling the short bowl on fast and hard pitches.

    I’m not saying that Dhoni is the best in doing that. But he has it in him to fight. Even Rahane who looks technically sound sometimes gives it away. But Dhoni and Kohli are two guys who’d hold on.

    Dhoni in an interview recently said that he is now looking to bat longer. I also read the same in one of the cricinfo’s report which was titled as ‘Direct Letter to Dhoni’ criticizing team’s selection and Dhoni’s position.

    3 down is a position from where Dhoni can handle both the roles. The role of an anchor and the pinch hitter. If we are 3 down in 25 overs, Rainas can’t really build up a partnership like Dhoni can. And later in the game, we can see the big blast by Dhoni if he manages to stay in the game. And they, though not as good as Dhoni can do, but even Jadeja, Raina and Ashwin can hit some quick runs.

    So what’s your say? Should Dhoni bat ahead at no.5 despite his unorthodox technique?
    Sorry, I couldn’t give link to the Article.

    And, no, when you bat at no.5 you don’t have to play much swing. Rahane is being given a chance for that at no.4. At 5, you need to play maturely like Dhoni does, not like Raina. And still, Dhoni isn’t that bad either. He is still better than Raina in handling pace and swing. If I were a decent pacer, I’d just bowl short to get rid of Raina!

    • Curator says:

      I agree that dhoni should bat at no. 5. He has capability to stay in the crease longer & stabilise the innings. He is more reliable as a batsman than Raina, we can usually trust MSD to bat most of the innings even if he comes to bat after 10 overs. That doesn’t mean Raina can’t bat at 5 & build an innings but I mean that dhoni is not suitable at lower middle order as he takes his own time initially & that style won’t be suitable when he comes to bat late after 35 overs. Whereas Raina is more aggressive & it’s more correct that he should bat at no.6. He adds runs at a wonderful strike rate too in the depth.

      Rahane has been the internet darling & receives so much praises although his ODI record is poor. Whereas it’s Raina who is criticised & targeted every time although Raina has scored more runs than Rahane in this series. I would groom Rahane as a test specialist & drop him for Odis. Yuvraj Singh deserves to be in the ODI team instead of Rahane.

      So India’s top 8 in ODI would be like :

      We have a left hand-right hand opening combination followed by a left hander at no.4 & left hander at no.6, & right hander at no.3 & right hander at no.5. This would also maintain the left hand-right hand combination throughout the innings which would be an advantage for batting side.

      Our batting these days has been too depended on Kohli & dhoni. It’s time for rohith,dhawan & Raina to step up & take the responsibility & reduce the burden on dhoni & Kohli.
