Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks has been talked about a lot lately. Here the latest info.

Garth Brooks Takes "The Call" Down to Two Voices

26 December 2013 | 4:50 pm It's been way too long since Garth Brooks sent a new song to country radio stations. Like more than five years when he released "Midnight Sun" in 2008. So I'd say the world is very, very ready for new music.

Garth Brooks' Empty Nest Is Our Gain

17 December 2013 | 7:20 pm I think Garth Brooks might just be the complete opposite of most men who are facing an empty nest. Because when he called into Chicago's country radio station WUSN right after announcing his upcoming world tour, he made it sound like he might actually be working harder once he retires from his retirement.

In Your Opinion, When Did Country Music Begin To Degrade? The following is my personal opinion (for what it is worth):

I feel that country music began to downgrade in the 2000’s. I know a lot of people would argue that country music was a shell of its former self in the 90’s, but I would disagree with them. I remember listening to a ton of really good songs on the radio in the 2000’s, that really embodied country music. Were these songs better then songs that Hank Williams Sr, Farron Young, Ray Price, or Marty Robbins performed? Absolutely not, but there were still modern songs that were truly country. Specifically, I remember songs like “Red Dirt Road” and “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” by Brooks & Dunn, bother great songs. Around the same time, they had also released songs like “Hillbilly Deluxe”, which I thought were awful (little did I know what could be expected ten years later). At any rate, there were a few losers tossed into the country charts, but there were a ton of great songs.

Fast-forward to 2010. This is when I felt that modern country music was no longer something I wanted to listen to. Brooks & Dunn had parted ways, Randy Travis had dropped out of the spotlight, and many other groups that I had liked before were either exiting the spotlight, or changing their style to reflect the times. I remember “colder weather” by the Zac Brown band as being one of the last truly great hit country songs to come out (in 2010).

Anyway, at this point the country charts were beginning to be dominated by “artists” like Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift (and all of those same people we unfortunately hear from today). I was in high school at the time, and I noticed all of my peers jumping on these bandwagons, believing that these party songs reflected a country lifestyle (and consequently, a lifestyle they aspired to live). Nobody I talked to seemed to be aware of real country groups like Brooks & Dunn’s existence. If they did, they considered them to be “boring twangy country for old people”.

Long story short, this was when I gave up on listening to modern country music. It was clear to me at that point all of these new “artists” had brought in a new evolution of music. Lest I forget, young fell head over heels for this new style of country music. Many of my friends (age 16-19) believe that this new country music reflects what life in the country is like.

Anyway, when do you feel that country music really began to die? Do you agree with me?
I do apologize for the grammatical mistakes. I had typed this on an iPhone while being forced to listen to the endless train of crappy hit country.

It really did start to circle the bowl in the 1990s, but I was raised on country music (Merle, Johnny, Buck, Hank Sr., Willie, Loretta, etc) and I held on. It wasn’t too bad with Kenny Rogers, George Strait, Chris Ledoux, Hank Jr., Randy Travis. Brooks & Dunn were OK, Tracy Byrd, Neal McCoy, Collin Raye, not so bad.

But it was Garth Brooks, a big fat mildly talented jerk, who helped sink country music into the garbage pit that it is today.

And don’t even get me started on what happened with the Dixie Chicks in 2003!

  • Please Help With Odd Technical Issue Concerning CDs In New Garth Brooks Boxed Set? I just received Garth Brooks’ Blame it all on my Roots boxed-set for my birthday and when I went rip the CDs onto my music library on my Windows Media Player so I could listen to them, (as I do not own a stereo or a car) the songs played, but all the information associated with the CDs was wrong. For example, one CD is Titled Classic Country and has all sorts of old Country greats on it, but the information that shows up is the title of Garth’s first CD and all its songs. This is completely wrong. And the same pattern repeats with all the remaining CDs in the set.

This got me wondering, to any other Garth Brooks fans who purchased this new box set, did you encounter a similar situation when you went to transfer the songs onto another device? If so, how did you fix it? If not, any ideas on what the actual problem is: the CD, or the computer program?

Good Country Song To Cover For A Talent Show? One that’s not morally bad and doesn’t have excessive tang. I’m fine with a little twang. And by a popular 90s to 2005 song. George strait would be good.
I’m a guy and my bother will being doing it with me. I don’t hardly have twang in my voice but my brother has a crazy amount of twang. I’m going to play guitar or maybe a ukulele or banjo if I can find a banjo to use

What Are Some Good Holiday Songs That Aren’t So Sentimental? Don’t get me wrong, I love these songs that are so gentle and peaceful to the mind, but i’d prefer something in the form of uplifting or energetic. Like two of the ones I listen to (not too often) Christmas in Hollywood – Hollywood Undead & Santa Hates Poor Kids – Your Favorite Martian. I know the lyrics for both are kind of morbid, but I like the rhythm they both go with. Remixes, anything will do haha
