Happy Birthday, Golden Gate Bridge! Flickr Blog
The Golden Gate Bridge has been a landmark of San Francisco since its completion in 1937. The love affair with the bridge started prior to it even being built. It was desperately needed to alleviate the traffic from the ferries. http://blog.flickr.net/en/2012/05/27/happy-birthday-golden-gate-bridge/

If You Were Being Followed By The FBI, Where Would You Go To Throw Them Off? This question is for my story I’m writing. My character is trying to get away from the government’s secret agency. He teleports from the Golden Gate Bridge. He can’t teleport very far, so what’d be a good place that he could teleport too?
Do We Celebrat The Golden Gate Bridges Birthday Every Year?
I Need Help In Geometry Quick. Anyone Please? We’re doing a project about the golden gate bridge (my team and me) and I, as the report writer, must include in a paragraph the geometric terms used to construct the golden gate bridge. I need to know if these are correct by the way I need at least 15:
1) the towers = definition of rectangle
2) cables connected from towers to bridge = definition of triangle
3) both towers = congruent rectangles
4) cables on inner part of the bridge = right triangles or something
5) the x shaped things on the bottom of the towers = vertical angles
6) the bridge part = definition of a line??
I can’t think of anything else, i’m bad at this. I also have to explain how it makes sense and I guess I could do that. Any help please?
I Am Walking Into San Francisco. Can I Walk On The Golden Gate Bridge? I don’t have a car. All of the Google maps say that I have to take a Ferry. Is this right? Can I live?
Why Is The Golden Gate Bridge Lighter Today Than It Was In 1933?
Why Do You Hear So Much About The Golden Gate Bridge But Little About The Bay Bridge In Comparison? After reading that the Golden Gate bridge is “celebrating” its 75th anniversary, I did a little research about it and started wondering why it’s so popular? In comparison, you don’t hear much about the Bay Bridge (which was built only 6 months before Golden Gate) or the San Rafael Bridge both connecting San Francisco to the surrounding area.
The Richmond – San Rafael Bridge is a typical industrial era bridge. While it is long, it isn’t really aesthetically pleasing. The Bay Bridge’s profile will certainly get a boost when the new eastern span is completed in 2013. The new sleek, illuminated tower has already won praise from design critics. And the bike lane will make environmentalists very happy.
But Art Deco lamp posts and the International Orange paint job are hardly the only reasons for the Golden Gate Bridge’s fame. It was the longest suspension bridge in the world for decades. And it was the first bridge to have deep sea foundations. Winds at the mouth of the Golden Gate often reach hurricane strength. Everyone knows the bridge towers are roughly 750 feet above sea level. But the towers themselves actually extend several hundred more feet beneath the surface. The longer one reaches an astonishing 1,125 feet when this is put into consideration.
The Bay and Richmond – San Rafael bridges were built above far more shallow (and considerably calmer) waters.
