Spurs regain control with Game 3 win over Golden State

11 May 2013 | 4:27 pm OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The San Antonio Spurs suddenly returned to form. The Golden State Warriors went cold, and Stephen Curry's sprained left ankle is once again a serious concern. So much about this Western Conference semifinal series has turned, too. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili reminded the NBA why nobody should ever count them out, leading the Spurs past the Warriors 102-92 … http://www.kens5.com/news/local/Spurs-regain-control-with-Game-3-win-over-Golden-State-207045391.html

Anyone Else Baffled By This Spurs/Warriors Series? Golden State goes into San Antonio and pretty much owns them in Texas. GS owned the Spurs for pretty much all of game 1, but the spurs pulled that one out by sheer heart. GS then completely owned the spurs in Game 2 and the Warriors looked like a team that could just run through the playoffs. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson looked like gods that simply couldn’t be guarded. Now the spurs go to Oakland, and it just SWITCHES. Tony Parker goes beast mode and has one less point than Thompson and Curry COMBINED! Danny Green shuts down Curry and puts him under house arrest, and Curry apparently re-injures his ankle. None of the GS big men could stop Timmy Duncan, and the Warriors shoot 39% AT HOME. How is this possible?

  • Put Yourself In Dwight Howard’s Shoes. Would You Want To Go To Golden State? I posted this same question about a week ago, but I want more varied answers.

As a Lakers fan, I selfishly want Dwight back in LA. However, if I were in his shoes, I may reconsider.

Where would I go if I were in his shoes? The answer is Golden State, a very young team, with a loyal fan-base.

Three out of the team’s four best players– Curry, Thompson, and Barnes– are 25-years-old or younger. David Lee, the odd man out, is only 30-years-old, so he has plenty left in the tank.

The best part is, all four players mentioned above are under contract for a while. Curry and Lee are locked under contracts until 2017 and 2016, respectively. Thompson and Barnes are under contract until 2015 and 2016, respectively.

The Warriors can use the amnesty clause on Center Andrew Bogut, saving $27 million over the next two seasons.

Signing Dwight to a max deal may put the Warriors over the cap, but the owner, Joe Lacob, has very deep pockets. He owes it to his fan-base to bite the bullet and pay the luxury taxes. The teams actually committed to winning, such as the Lakers, are paying luxury taxes every season. It might be the time for Warriors to take a page out of the Lakers’ book in regards to being committed to winning.

I’m not looking for reinforcement. Feel free to disagree. Please tell me why, though. 🙂

Statistics Problems? Help? 1) At a burger specialty restaurant, the toppings options are catsup, mayonnaise, mustard, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, steak sauce, and guacamole. If you can choose between a 4-oz burger or a 6-oz burger and want a mix of 4 toppings, how many different burgers can you order?

    2) Use o-notation to write the expansion of (p + q)^25 as a series

    Expand each binomial
    3) (1 – 3p)^8
    4) (x + x^2)^7

    5) What is the coefficient of x^4y^7 in the xpansion of (2x – 3y)^11

    6) Basketball free throws are generally considered independent events. During the 1996–97 NBA regular season, Mark Price of the Golden State Warriors had a free-throw percentage of 0.906. If he were to shoot 10 consecutive free throws, what is the probability that he would make exactly 7 of them?

I’ll try to explain this as well as i can. The winner of the 1/8 match-up plays the winner of the 4/5 match-up. and the winner of the 2/7 match-up plays the winner of the 3/6 match-up. Hence the #1 thunder play the #5 grizzlies and the #2 spurs play the #6 warriors. your point is valid in the NFL and maybe in MLB (I’m not sure about baseball)

NFL: Will Santa Clara Niners Bring In New Fans With New Stadium? 9ers fans,

Q 1. Given their new home for 2014, will the franchise develop an entirely NEW fan-base, with Santa Clara fans and surrounding counties/boroughs coming into the fray?

Note: not a fan nor a resident of SF, but given their new stadium is technically NO LONGER in SF it seems a logical two-fold question [hence the header title]

    Fun Fact:

The Golden State [NBA] Warriors are no longer going to be playing in Oakland as well, this time in SF with their new stadium just off of Bay Bridge.

    • Curator says:

A lot of sports teams reside in areas just outside the place thats in their name. For example the Jets and Giants aren’t actually in New York with their new stadium. That being said die-hard 49er fans will make the extra drive to Santa Clara to enjoy games in Levi’s Stadium. They’ll gain sponserhips of businesses from that area, similar to what the A’s are trying to do with their dream of moving to San Jose. Bottom line is that 49ers will have great attendance becasue people want to go to a new stadium, and because many bandwagoners want to be affialiated with a winning team.
