  • Government Shutdown Has Ended. Your Thoughts, Please? Is it true that this 16-day shutdown cost us $800 million a day?

Who is more responsible? Pubs or Dems? Personally, I believe both are equal to blame

“Corrupt politician” is a redundant term.

Friends, fellow Americans, America will survive. We must band together as brothers and sisters to make not only country, but our world a better place.

Put aside politics. Do what you feel is right.

Our space Program is a much more worthwhile use of our time and funds than politics.
@James Greetings friend. You make a good point. Remember though, most Muslims are good people. I’m not a muslim.

  • Google says:

Whose Fault Was The Government Shutdown, In Your Opinion? Who do you think caused the government shutdown, and why? This question is purposely ambiguous. I would like a variety of answers to see what people think.
I would rather think that that would have no part at all in the shutdown.
What would lead you to think it was Obama? He has no part in voting in the Congress.
    @How Would I Know
You are right in that they promised that they would not negotiate.
I concur that in some ways, the Republicans are responsible. Many of the more far-right ones were not willing to negotiate and only cared about defunding the ACA (Obamacare). If they really cared about the People, they would not have tried to defund it, but rather would have tried to come to a bi-partisan agreement with the Democrats and the Senate early on.

But Democrats are also to blame. The House put forth many bills which the Democrat-controlled Senate was not willing to accept. If they really cared about the People, they would have agreed earlier to prevent a shutdown.

Obama also said he will not negotiate, though I think he has no right to be a part of the process until a bill has been passed by both chambers of Congress.

I think that these tactics will resume come early 2014. It was just recently that these tactics and a last-minute solution were used, and our nation’s credit rating was reduced.

You all also seem to think that both parties or both parties and Obama are at fault, and I would tend to agree.

  • Steve says:

Obama’s Speech This Morning Placed No Blame On Himself For The Government Shutdown, Is That Accurate? He is the Leader of our country, and he did little to reconcile the two parties and end the conflict of the shutdown. You Democrats elected him to lead this country through difficult times not to whine and finger point, blaming everyone but Himself! Has he let Democrats down? Should he lead by example?
    Mongo, go home!
