Here are the first 50 of 338 who died in the USA recently enough they had a SSN, just to give you an idea of how big a haystack your needle is in. I was going to spin you a tale of a tall, left-handed redhead who invented an electric bottle opener, but I was afraid you’d believe me.

What Kind Of Local Government Does This City Have? I am trying to figure out what kind of local government Granbury, Texas has. Here is the website:
    http://www.granbury.org/
I have searched a lot and still can’t figure it out. Is it a Commission, Mayor-Council, Council-Manager, or something else?

    Here’s how each works:
Council-Manager: The voters elect members to the city council, and the city council then appoints the city manager who functions as the chief executive.
Mayor-Council: The voters elect the mayor (chief executive) and they elect the council as well (legislative body).
Commission: The voters elect commissioners who do both the executive and legislative functions. Each of them heads a department and focus on running it. They are called the board of commissioners.

They may as well be more than these three that I mentioned. If it is none of these, then which type of local government does this city have? If anyone can figure it out, could you please tell me how you did it? I really want to learn how to. Thank you. 🙂

    • Curator says:

Hmmm. There is a Council and “The City Manager is appointed by the City Council and is the chief administrative and executive officer of the City.” That sounds to me like maybe Mayor Commission but what do I know?

Good Roads For Motorcycle Ride Near Dallas.? Can anyone give me some roads around Dallas,Tx, area for motorcycle rides.Would like one with lots of twist and turns, and nice country scenery. Maybe south of
Dallas down toward the Cedar Creek :Lake area.
Any motorcycle groups that take group rides also.

    • Curator says:

I don’t know about the Cedar Creek area. I live more towards the Fort Worth side. Good rides on this side include runs out to Granbury, around Lake Ray Roberts, and some runs up into Oklahoma. As for riding groups, there are plenty. Try your closest motorcycle dealership. They like to sponsor rides to peak interest in purchasing accessories or even new bikes. A Kawasaki dealership in Grapevine does a bunch of dinner rides and stuff. Also, check around some of the bigger churches. My church has a very active riding group. If you just want to strike out on your own, check the local magazine stand for a copy of “Ride Texas,” or check your local library for motorcycle rides in Texas. They’re both great resources for favorite runs, but you’ll have a lot more fun riding in a group.

  • Are There Any Nice Lakes Or Rivers In Texas? For swimming and stuff like that?

    Preferably in North Texas?

My friend and I wanted to go to the Narrows in hill country but then we found out it was privately owned. So are there any good lakes/rivers/streams for swimming and stuff?

Please don’t say Lake Lewisville or Lake Caddo

    • Curator says:

Lake Granbury is nice and there is also a navigable river there. It is on the border of Hill Country and about 1.5 hours WSW from Dallas-Ft. Worth. Also, there is Lake Travis which is way down by Austin but is really nice and very beautiful. There is also Ceder Creek Reservoir which is about 45 minutes ESE of Dallas-Ft. Worth. I believe it is the largest body of water in Texas or maybe I was misinformed. Anyway, it really is a huge lake. Hope this helps!

My Boat Is Stuck In My Lift Over Dirt Due To Drought Conditions. Any Ideas On How To Get It Out? I have a fixed dock on Lake Granbury in Texas. The water has been low since June and I cannot get my boat out. Does anyone have any ideas? Are there ways to get it out? It’s about 7 feet from the back of my boat to the water…
Yea, I wish it were not covered, but unfortunately it is, and it is welded metal, so no way to remove it.

    • Curator says:

Below is a link to a site that sells inflatable beach rollers that are designed to be used to roll boats to/from the water. the large size is rated for up to 2,000lbs. since they are inflatable you may be able to dig out under your boat and then inflate them (lifting your boat out of the mud) and then roll the boat out to the water. suggest that you use three rollers so that you can support the boat on two rollers while moving the third roller to the stern of the boat.

How Many 4A High Schools Are There In Texas? I just learned that there were only three 4A high schools in Texas that earned an exemplary rating this year, but I really want to know the total number so I can see how many schools didn’t.(:

    • Curator says:

You’ll have to add them up. Also, keep in mind that the Texas Education Agency ratings (exemplary, average, etc.) are based SOLELY on student performance on the standardized TAKS test. They have nothing to do with whether the schools are preparing students for success beyond graduation, whether that includes college, job skills, life skills, problem solving, budgeting or any other basics. My own recent high school graduate, who always aced all the TAKS, did not know how to address an envelope, complete a job application, balance a checkbook or a number of other critical tasks until I discovered this and taught her how. But she was great at filling in circles with a #2 pencil!
