Are Female-centered Holidays Taken More Seriously Than Male-centered Ones? Today, there is all this hype about Internation Women’s Day and to many people it seems like people in general care about it more than International Men’s Day. I’ve always felt like Mother’s Day is also celebrated more than Father’s Day so I guess opinions may vary, but I’m tired of it seeming like women are viewed as superior to men in our society and somehow all the worship has to go to them. As a male, I’m tired of feeling attacked by an overly-feminist society. Seriously I know women suffered oppression for a long time, but that doesn’t make it ok to just flip the script and abuse men the exact same way.
Meh Meh- Hell no, not with the way we get treated in this society now.
Jess- Those all are about specific men maybe, but not the general male population. Seems like the female population AS A WHOLE gets sexistly celebrated more than the male population. Sure we have holidays for certain exceptional men, but the female gender in general just gets celebrated for no particular reason other than our female-dominated societie’s delusions.
I agree with John Doe, saying Valentines Day is a male-centered holiday is the biggest joke ever.
Green Haze- Your just being an a$$

In Honor Of International Women’s Day,? Post a poem by your favorite female poet, or your favorite by emily dickinson

    here is mine

“Hope” is the thing with feathers

    254

“Hope” is the thing with feathers—
    That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
    And never stops—at all—

    And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
    That kept so many warm—

I’ve heard it in the chillest land—
    And on the strangest Sea—
    Yet, never, in Extremity,
    It asked a crumb—of Me.

    Emily Dickinson
hope is a virtue, worth striving for

      “Faith” is a fine invention
      When Gentlemen can see—
      But Microscopes are prudent
      In an Emergency.
