Has Anyone Who Got Approved On 1/30/2014 Receive A DDD Yet? I filed taxes on the 28th and I got approved supposedly by the IRS on 1/30 per TurboTax but I am still at only one bar on the IRS website. Has anyone that has been approved on 1/30, received their deposit date?

Income Tax Return Question? I did my taxes on Saturday. The guy who did they told me how much I was going to get… when I checked my tax forms he gave me it has a different amount. I checked it on the IRS website and it said it has been accepted. (the amount the IRS has is actually more than he told me)

I will be picking up my check from their office. Will the amount be different since they need to charge me for their services? Im confused!!
    who did theM*
The amount he gave me is 500.00 less than what the IRS has.. I dont think theyd charge this much for tax services would they?

  • How Long Have People Waiting This Year For There Taxes? We did are taxes on the online h&r block website. the irs has accepted them i guess they just have to approve much longer after that. I just want to know how about how long everyone have been waiting.

My Employer Misclassified Me And Won’t Send My Tax Papers? I worked for a nonprofit for about 6 weeks and then was fired, out of nowhere. No reasonable explanation was ever given and I was so upset that I just decided to walk away without making a fuss. Although I did have to remind them several times to send my final paycheck.

During those 6 weeks, I was classified as an independent contractor instead of an employee. The executive director said she wanted to do that to “keep me off the books,” presumably to avoid payroll taxes. But I worked steady hours, I had to wear the same attire as the other employees, t-shirts with the organization’s name and logo, my employer told me what work to do and how to do it, and I used the their equipment, not my own. In an email to someone else that she cc’d me on, she even referred to me the “new PR director.” So it’s pretty clear that I was misclassified.

So, the IRS requires employers to send out tax forms during the month of January. About two weeks ago, I sent an email to the executive director telling her I hadn’t gotten my 1099-MISC form yet. She responded that it was sent to the last known address, and if I had a new one, to send it to her. They only have one address for me – the one where I live now – so I know that’s bs. But I sent her my address anyway. No response. So I send another email 5 days later and got a call from one of the employees. She asked for my SSN so she could look up the information and said she’d send me the form ASAP. That was 5 days ago and no one has bothered to contact me since.

My guess is that they haven’t sent anything because they don’t have anything to send. I’m thinking they didn’t report my wages to the IRS as required – they may not have realized making someone an IC instead of an employee doesn’t absolve them from sending out forms – and they’re probably pretty nervous right now. I obviously did not leave on good terms with them. Even though I don’t have a form from them (and don’t expect to get one), I’m going to file my taxes and report the income I received during those six weeks as an “independent contractor.” So my question is, once an investigation is complete, will the organization have to reimburse me for the Social Security, federal income tax, etc. that, as of now, I’m going to have to pay out of my own pocket since I was working as an IC? I haven’t been able to find full-time work since this all happened. If I’d been classified as an employee, I could have filed for unemployment. Is there a chance I can still file for unemployment once the dust settles on this whole thing?
It didn’t occur to me until last night that I should have been classified as an employee, not an IC. I looked up the standards used to determine if someone is an IC or employee, and I was clearly the latter. And yes, I am definitely going to report the income I received – which was just over $3,000. But again, I don’t think I should have to pay Social Security and all the other payroll taxes they didn’t have to pay because I was misclassified. Whatever I get reimbursed for, if anything, will be minimal. It’s more the principle of the whole thing.

Can I Amend My Previous Tax Returns To Change The Filing Status From Head Of The Household To MFJ? Background: I immigrated to US in 2006 and was signal at that time. I went back to my home country and got married in July, 2007. My wife and I have two kids before marriage. I applied for my family’s immigration for them to come over to US. Immigration process took longer than expected. My wife has gotten the visa last year (2013) and now have SSN however my kids’ visa application is still pending and are expected to come to US within this year (2014).

So, for all the past years, I have been filing as Head of the Household (claiming my mother as dependent) because my family members were not US citizens/residents and did not have SSN. Since my wife DO have SSN and is US Permanent Resident. We filed MFJ this year (still not claiming my kids as dependents as they are out of country and are not US P.R. Upon my kids’ arrival, if I amend my past returns to change the filing status from HH to MFJ, it will make a lot of difference in my returns because of higher EIC, standard deductions, exemptions etc.

Actual Question: Based on the above information and keeping IRS rules in mind, can I legally amend my past returns to change my filing status from HH to MFJ and claim my kids?

I know with this kind of complex situation, I should go to a CPA however I can not afford one. Therefore any help from an expert out there will be greatly appreciated.
    Typo…. Singal NOT Signal. Sorry.

IRS Still Processing 2014? I was one of the few filers that were accepted early by the irs(January 24th 2014). According to some people on here some were already getting a date from the irs of feb 6th. I guess my question is how does the irs process the returns?? is it by state?? Last name?? Social security number??? I don’t think it’s has to do with first come first serv because I would have had a date by now since I was one of the few they were accepted early. Anyone with knowledge please answer.

I would also like to add that I filed head of household and 1 dependent and refund amount is about $4,000.
Im adding this because I can’t seem to add it to my question, my income isn’t self employment.
