Jarome Iginla In Pitts.your Thoughts? How do you think this effects both teams? Is he worth Calgary getting the 1st round pick? Who are they going for in the draft if so? And Pittsburgh do you think their making a great team even better? Anything else?

Jarome Iginla To Pittsburgh?!? Obviously, everyone thought he was going to Boston, but what do you guys think about this trade? Personally, I’m elated. Ray Shero most definitely wants to win the Cup this year, and I think he’s making a lot of great decisions so the team can do so.

First of all to the people who “believe everything they read on the internet” neither Iginla or Calgary have ever suggested there is a list. Iginla can veto any trade he wishes and he absolutely will reject any deal if he cant get an extension on his current deal (the one thing he has suggested is he isnt interested in being a rental). This speculation of a “list” is certain bloggers having a pissing contest that is still ongoing…..if they have no source how would they know. Several GMs have said they arent sure who may be in or out but some guys who “have sources” all know and each has a different list. For my money Kypreos is better than most at getting rumors correct and he is the one who says the Wings are in fact on the list (if one even exists…..Iggy likely told Feaster find a deal with any contender then talk to his agent who will try and hammer out an agreement before he accepts any deal).

But to answer the question of Iginla to Detroit…..no. The Wings focus will be on a puck moving defenseman (if they speak with Calgary it will be about Bouwmeester) and they currently have a pile of forwards who are young and ready to step into roles. And with Filppula, Brunner and Howard entering potential free agency at seasons end they wont be interested in paying Iggy for 2 or 3 more years at likely 7 mill. per and losing at least 2 of those other potential FA’s. Iggy is a great player and will make an excellent acquisition for a team making a serious Cup run but he doesnt fit what the WIngs need moving forward nor do the Wings likely fit his desired thirst for a top contender team with elite Cup hopes.

Out Of All These People That I Have Listed, Who Will Go Into The Hockey Hall Of Fame Someday? Ray Whitney
    Alexei Kovalev
    JS Giguere
    Tim Thomas
    Slava Kozlov
    Eric Lindros
    Daniel Alfredsson
    Chris Drury
    Jarome Iginla
    Mark Recchi
    Daniel Briere

    • Curator says:

The only ones considered will be Lindros (close), Alfredsson (for sure), and Iginla (absolutely). None of the others should be considered. The club is called the Hockey Hall of Fame. not a bunch of really good hockey players.
