Would You Read This (novel Idea)? Whenever i get the urge to pen a new novel, it always happens because a few circumstances and sources of inspiration appeared at the exact same time. This happened to me earlier tonight, and I’ve pretty much finished planning out the skeleton for the story.

So, below ill give a basic synopsis of the story, tell me if theres anything missing or that could be improved, as well as if you think you would buy this book.
Title: Sin before Salvation
Genre: Crime, Thriller
Overarching Theme: The pain that an undercover detective must face in the course of his duties when he must sacrifice one to save many, and the burden it places on his heart.
Setting: Near future, Developed country <--- haven’t decided where to place it yet Main characters: Detective, Girl A <--- no names yet, feel free to suggest Target audience: Adult (contains strong themes) The story begins with an introduction to our hero, the young, intelligent homicide detective. This detective has spend many years of his career tracking down what is believed to be as single murderer who has a habit of raping and killing girls in their late teens (16ish) and dumping them out in the middle of nowhere. Though the method of killing, the location of the dumping and the general circumstances of each body showing up differ each time with no discernable pattern or motive, the one thing that ties all the cases together apart from the ages of the victims is the fact that at autopsy, all the girls show signs of having been raped. Not recently raped either, but at a young age. Shift gears now to introduce our other main character, and a basic introduction to her world. Imagine a brothel controlled by a criminal syndicate , where all the prostitutes are young girls who have been mind wiped/ brainwashed , and the whole point of the place is to fulfill the horrific fantasies of those who are rich and have certain…inclinations. Girl A’s parents where recently murdered (or maybe she was taken to settle a debt, I like that idea as well) by said criminal syndicate, and she has been imprisoned. Her role in the tale is to resist the mind control and escape from her confinement. BACKGROUND ON THE BROTHEL The idea is simple enough, the “client” comes to this place, picks a girl(s) and what specific fantasy he wishes to play out, if any, and goes to a room where he plays out said fantasy. The girls need to be controlled of course, and there are a few different methods for this. Chemical mind wiping: Chemicals in the food which affect the memory and emotional parts of the brain, and act as a suppressant. The promise of release: The point of the place is children only, so theres the general belief that they will be released when they reach a certain age. As the reader, we know they get murdered, but they don’t know that. The idea behind the mind wiping is very much Gunslinger Girl (anime) meets The Island (movie) Now that the two characters are introduced to the reader, its time to start the plot moving. I’m yet to figure out exactly how this is going to work, but the bulk of the two stories work parallel, with the girl trying to escape/summon help from within the facility, and the detective trying to follow the clues she does get out, as well as his own, and figure out what it all means. Fast forward a couple hundred pages, the detective has finally located this place, however he is unable to move due to corruption within the force. What he needs to do is get inside, gather evidence and escape with it , and who better to give evidence than his unknown informant, now all he has to do is find her. So, he disguises himself as a client and has to visit the brothel. You would think that most girls would be desperate to get out of there right, and all he has to do is go into a room and ask one to testify. Not so much the truth, as many of the girls have become either totally mind wiped, or resigned to fate and don’t have the will to struggle anymore. Of course, there would be something up if the client was paying thousands to have a chat to one of the girls, and so in order to save the many, he has to do things he would never consider doing to the few (ill even let a few girls die as a result, somehow…). Continuing on, girl A’s situation is looking pretty grim, she’s on the verge of resignation when our hero should show up. Then it pretty much turns prison break, with the help of the detective she escapes, the police come down hard and the organization is busted open and the day saved, end of story yay, everything worked out ok. I wouldn’t be happy with that kind of ending though, without some deeper moral message. I know personally that for a righteous man, a sin which was committed even for the right reason, will weigh heavily on the heart. The vacant looks of the girls he…ahem yes well….. will loom up in the darkness at night, and the detective will feel them even after the crime is solved, In the end, the weight of his sin will be too heavy for him, and he will commit suicide, this is the true ending. The free man becomes captive, and the captive girl becomes free… So, whatcha reckon. The details are vague, but that’s the skeleton of the story. Yes, he did rape a girl each time he visited the place. He didnt want to, but he had to in order to maintain his cover, because just going in to chat would have made the criminal orgaization suspicious.
