Josh Beckett reportedly played golf after missing start because of injury
Thu, 10 May 2012 09:53:52 -0700 If its not video games, fried chicken and beer in the clubhouse during games, its golf. The newest controversy swirling about the Boston Red Sox involves pitcher Josh Beckett playing a round of golf the day after missing a start because of a strained latissimus muscle behind his right shoulder. Josh Beckett, Red Sox Looking to Cool Down Asdrubal Cabrera As Two Clubs Open Series at Fenway
Thu, 10 May 2012 13:19:42 -0700 Editor's note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days. Asdrubal Cabrera has historically put up good numbers, especially power numbers against the Red Sox. Unfortunately for Boston, the Indians infielder comes into Fenway swinging a pretty hot bat. Blockbuster Fantasy Trade.. Was This Good For Me? 16 team, h2h keeper league.
I traded:
Jose Bautista $1
David Price $4
Tony Campana $3
I received
Matt Kemp $22
Dan Haren $36
Emilio Bonifacio $1
My team after the trade:
C Yadier Molina 24
1B Prince Fielder 26
2B Ian Kinsler 33
3B Hanley Ramirez 45
SS Emilio Bonifacio 1
OF Matt Kemp 22
OF Hunter Pence 8
OF Adam Jones 28
UT David Ortiz 2
BN Carlos Lee 15
BN Angel Pagan 4
BN JD Martinez 8
SP Dan Haren 36
SP Ian Kennedy 11
SP Adam Wainwright 10
SP Jaime Garcia 16
SP Jeremy Hellickson 1
SP Josh Beckett 23
SP Kyle Lohse 3
SP Jake Westbrook 1
SP Anthony Bass 2
SP Barry Zito 1
SP Shelby Miller 1
SP Tyler Skaggs 1
Prior to the trade, I had Bautista at 3B and Hanley at SS. Thoughts? Did I win this trade?
My thinking is that I lost on keeper salary, but improved my offense and only a slight loss in pitching from Price to Haren. Not worried about keeper salary right now in May, though.. so I only really care if I improved my team with the deal.
Jeff G: Bautista went for $1 two or three years ago before he broke out, and was kept as a keeper. I traded for him at the beginning of last year.

Which team has the best starting pitching staff? (yes, there are 7 starting pitchers)
Trade Help Involving Top Talent? I just got offered Jason Heyward, Zack Greinke and Troy Tulowitzki for Kemp. I really think I need to pull the trigger.
Currently my shortstop is Emillo Bonifacio, who I can move to the outfield. My current pitching staff consists of: Josh Beckett, Chad Billingsly, Jason Hammel, Ian Kennedy, Jordan Zimmerman, and Derek Holland.
I’m being offered those three for Kemp, not the other way around. I would getting the three.
Is This A Good Fantasy Baseball Trade To Send? I’m in a ten team league and someone sent me Dustin Ackley for Alex Rios (I have Rios). I declined it because stats showed that Rios was the slightly better player. I’m stacked on offense but my pitching isn’t the greatest, which is why I sent him Ackley, Yovani Gallardo, Josh Beckett, and David Price for Johan Santana, Rios, and Tommy Hanson with a possibility of adding Derek Holland but I’ll probably not do that. Should I accept his Ackley for Rios trade or should I decline it and send a trade back, like the one suggested above? Here is my team:
C J.P. Arencibia, Tor C
1BMichael Young, Tex 1B, 3B, DH

Would You Be Willing To Give Up Kemp For This? Kemp and Josh Beckett for C.C. and Jay Bruce.
My starters are Beckett, Holland, Ian Kennedy, Chad Billingsley, Jordan Zimmerman, Jason Hammel
My other outfielders are Jason Upton, Bryce Harper, and Howie Kendrick.
Of course not.
Good luck.
Do I Pull The Trigger On This Blockbuster Fantasy Baseball Trade? It’s a 5×5 roto league with no bench, single year league.
My team would be getting
Robinson Cano
Hanley Ramirez
Josh Beckett
I would be giving up
Mark Teixeira
Brett Lawrie
CC Sabathia
This is my roster before the deal…
C Brian McCann
1bAlbert Pujols
2bDan Uggla

No, you shouldn’t do it. Gettin Cano is pointless because you already have an elite 2B. By giving up Texeira, Lawrie and CC, you are giving up 3 of the best players in the league.
James Shields For Josh Beckett And What Closer? I’m trying to acquire James Shields. I’m willing to give up Josh Beckett and he needs a closer. I have Joel Hanrahan, J.J. Putz, and Joe Nathan. Which one should I offer? He needs a closer bad and has tons of starting pitching so I’m 99.9 he will do a deal.
By the way, my starting pitching is a joke, it’s why I need a guy like Shields.
This is my roster of starters: Becket, Billingsly, Jason Hammel, Ian Kennedy, Jordan ZImmerman, and Derek Holland.
My answer would be don’t do it at all.
But, if you’re dead set on it. Try to get him to take JJ Putz.
