Anyone Esle Thinks Johnny Depp Is Wasting His Talent? Depp is widely considered as an incredibly talented actor, but I think if he wants to go down as one of the real greats,he should reconsider his choices.
he worked really hard after 21 jump street to not be just a poster boy. he chose roles in movies that didn’t do well at the box office b/c he considered them to be worthy.
but now,it seems to me that he’s content with making POTC apparently forever. yes at 1st it was great entertainment but seriously a 5th one?
also his projects with Tim burton used to be great but are becoming too much and more importantly more shallow as time goes by.
I immensely enjoyed Depp in his more serious roles such as Edward scissorhands,SweeneyTodd and his non-eccentric roles in Don juan demarco,Donnie Brasco, what’s eating Gilbert Grape,Finding neverland, public enemies, etc.
he’s such a great actor but what are his projects right now? dark shadows opening soon, the lone ranger.POTC 5,etc. none of which have the potential to be more that just a popcorn flick. anyone else thinks he’s wasting his talent? don’t you think he should star in more ‘normal’ roles like he did b/f POTC?
@? : I really don’t have an answer to your question, but I think he just agreed to do it b/c he was in the original series. years ago he said that he hated the image 21 jump street brought him but he would make a brief appearance in it if they did a movie(that they have now),probably as a tribute?

I agree with what you are saying
some of his best roles imo were Edward scissorhands and SweeneyTodd as well as Donnie Brasco and Public enemies and Blow
If you could add detail to your question and explain to me why he made a cameo appearance in 21 jump street? i was highly confused and a little shocked even though everyone else in the theatre seemed to be enjoying it. I will come back to check out what you wrote!
I think he’s at a stage in his career where he wants to have a little fun perhaps. Truthfully I’m not sure but if he does want to go out as one of the greats, like you said, he will need to finish off strong.
Edit: I agree with the top two answers

How Do You Determine A Good Job/ Career? I’ve been working for 4 years for this company. 6 months after I started, they transferred me to a bigger department which I now regret because it doesn’t align with my career progression. I agreed in the first place because they said they could send me back to my original dept if I didn’t like it, but then they played politics on me and ‘forced’ me to stay.

Not only that, my boss is a micromanager, so he loves to be involved in single details. I just moved to our new branch in a different city, and he talked to IT about setting up a camera so he could monitor my work, which they already did. I’m not a chatty person, I don’t have messengers installed in my machine, and we’re not allowed to chit chat with friends (even within our department), and we need to cc him in all emails.
Since my boss has a bad reputation and a difficult person to work with, people have come and go in our department – at least 20 people for the past 4 years, and we’re just 5 people department.
I had to stick around before since I had to deal with my status, but I’m ok to move on now. So, my friends consider me thick skin since I stay the longest in this department (they usually stay less than 1 year, mostly about 4-6 months, and some also stay 1-3 weeks since they can’t stand him).

However, now that I’m free to go, I have some issues. I first thought of going back to school since I’m really interested in culinary major. That’s my dream for the past 3 years and I literally dream of having my own restaurant. But, culinary is not an easy job, especially I need to start all over again and the pay will be very low. I’m not sure if I can survive with that since I also have a family.

I’m currently looking for a new job, but I’m afraid that I’ll be treated the way my boss treats me now – no respect and not sincere in what he says. My boss is a lone ranger, with no family, hence his life is just work and work, even on Saturday. Since I got relocated, he has confirmed that I can’t get any promotion, unless come work in the same office (HQ). So, there’s no point of staying here and this is not the career that I want, either.

How do you weigh a good job/ career? Is it based on how your supervisor treats you? Your salary? Your career progression? Your passion?
Is it normal/ too much if my boss ask a web cam so he can monitors my job? I’m a designer, so all the stuffs I do are saved in our shared drive.
I think I’m mentally tired and don’t even know what to do, other than keep earning money. Any suggestions?
BTW, My commute to work place is 1.5hrs/ one way by train. So, not too sure if this is worth it or not.

I Am Really Sad And Cant Study…? I cant study at all. Maybe a little bit but overall its nothing!

I have a boring sequestered introverted shielded life that eats at me almost every minute of my life.
I have been a lone ranger almost all my life. I was bullied ever since I could remember ( my teeth, head shape, you name it) All these things wear on my daily. I just want to be satisfied once in my life! I want to have a friend or girl friend who I can call and discuss my problems and joys and all that beautiful stuff. Its not as easy as it sounds. I suffer from a inferiority complex, my skin is/was horrible its getting better every day and it is just another burden im dealing with. I can get over the fact that I was bullied and thats why im mostly introverted and kids will be kids and the past is over. But once you add that with my battle with my skin it just makes it worst. Not too long ago ( a year ago) I couldint look people in the face, couldint socialize, I was totally akward. Slightly because of my past but mostly because I cant cover my face, I have to go to school every day and everyone would be staring at my face and it just made my personality even worst. But its been a year since then. I’m a first eyar university student and although my face has gotten alot better its still visible outstandish. Its not your normal skina dn if you saw me you’d feel sorry for me. But I know it will get better. So here I am, An athiest in strict a christian home, no friends, visible bad skin, and exams oming up in a few days. Most people suffering some sort of depression always seem to have a friend or really close on to be with them. I have literally no one. My mom nor dad never talk to me about anything except the generally conversations. I really do want to study had for this exam but I’m having problems mustering up the strength. Help?

Racism In The Workplace? Yes, controversial topic, but it is what it is. I am a black man, very cultured and very professional. I also work in a decision making capacity in a specialist role, meaning I do not have a standard job that requires me to do x amount of duties on a quantitative scale, etc etc. It just so happens that in every job I have ever worked in since being a professional, I have been the ONLY black person, male or female, on the team. Just me. At a few jobs I have had I saw one or two Asians here and there on the team, or one Indian, you get the picture, or a latino. The rest white, no blacks. This has been a consistent trend in every industry I have been in, in NYC, which is surprising, because you would think NY would be one of the more diverse places to work in the world. At the “lower levels” (forgive my unintentional arrogance), secretaries, departments that handle less specialized roles, etc, the diversity is more, but the higher up you go, none. I find it a shame, because companies lose out on so much talent and experience. Sometimes I even feel the reason I was hired was to appear “diverse.” And being a lone ranger comes with its challenges: I get ostracized at meetings…at one company I worked I was not even given a desk with my group (I was made to sit with an unrelated department, while there were available spaces within my dept), even have to deal with the underhand, politically correct racist statements that in a court of law will not be deemed as “racist.” And woe onto you if you react to such abuse, then you become the angry black man, or woman. And this is not just a black/white thing. I’ve received this treatment even from other “light” races as well!!! I find it such a shame that in this day and age, such primitive systems and trains of thought exist, especially in business settings which in my opinion would be most profitable if they were objective and neutral. I’ve been working in this cycle for a long time, and its all the same, wherever you go. And believe me I say that objectively. Forgive me if I offend anyone who reads this, but I am the last person who sees things through the lens of race and even I, after years of seeing the same thing over and over again in different work environments, have to concur that race has something if not everything to do with it.

Whats with all the hatred at the workplace? Can anyone else relate? How can it be resolved? Please, I realize there are alot of knuckleheads on the web, just try if you can to leave thoughtful, polite responses.
And again, please read the WHOLE article before responding, do not respond to just one element. I do not think such settings have a racist element only because I usually am the only minority. I cited many other reasons. And there are tons of very qualified people who can perform just as well if not better than those who are hired, white, black or whatever color. If hiring was truly based on performance and ability I objectively believe there would be more of a color balance. Thanks.
