2012 China Open: FINALS Predictions? Men:
    [1] Novak Djokovic vs [3] Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

    Women:
[1] Victoria Azarenka vs [2] Maria Sharapova

Please make your prediction in a FULL RESULT (eg. Azarenka 6-4 6-4) and I will award 2 points for correct winner and 1 point for guessing the no. of sets.
@pixiedust: Not yahoo points, just numbers. I calculate everyone’s points and you get 2 points for guessing the right winner and a point for guessing the right number of sets and whoever has the most points gets best answer.

    • Curator says:

      Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-2
      Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 6-2
p.s. how are you gonna do that? aren’t we supposed to award just 10 points to the best answer?

Tennis & Entertainment Survey PT 4? 1. The top four mens players each won a grand slam this year, but who do you think deserves the mens player of the year award?
    2. How many more Grand Slams do you think Serena Williams will win before she retires?
    3. What’s your favourite sports movie?
    4. Which one of these pairings do you think would have the best friendship off-court”

    Serena Williams & Justin Henin
    Serena Williams & Maria Sharapova
    Maria Sharapova & Victoria Azarenka
    Novak Djokovic & Rafa Nadal
    Novak Djokvic & Roger Federer

    5. Rank this years mens and womens Grand Slam finals from your favourite to least favourite?

    My answer

    Mens

French Open – Djokovic vs Nadal (Nadal won, so this match has be No.1)
Australian Open – Djokovic vs Nadal
    Wimbledon – Federer vs Murray
US Open – Murray vs Djokovic

    Womens

US Open – Azarenka vs S. Williams (Just when you thought Azarenka had the upperhand, back came Serana, Come On Serena!!)
    Wimbledon – S.Williams vs Radwanska
French Open – Sharapova vs Errani
Australion Open – Sharapova vs Azarenka (Don’t remember much about this one sided final)

    6. If you were a tennis coach, which player on tour would you like to coach? It doesn’t have to be the best player, it could be the player you’d have most fun with or and up and coming player.
    7. If it does happen, which British tennis player do you think will break into the womens top 50 first, Heather Watson or Laura Robson?
    8. Ivan Lendl has improved Andy Murray’s mental approach to the game this year, what aspect of your favourite players game do you think he or she could improve on?
    9. If the French Open started in January, do you think Nadal would’ve won 7 titles at Roland Garros? I’m asking this because Nadal normally hits top form around May/June.
    10. Do you think the womens Grand Slam final should be the best of five sets?

    • Curator says:

      1. Novak. He won a Slam, played 2 finals and a semifinal which is way better than any of the Top 4. Also, he leads in the ATP Race and Prize Money. I think this year wasn’t the best in mens tennis, but it was competitive and everyone from the Top 4 won a Slam. Obviously, Federer is the 2nd best this season despite winning more titles and Murray is a close 3rd.

      2. She said she’ll play Rio in 2016 which means that’s at least 4 more years, so I say 4 more Slams! It all depends on her health though. If she is healthy she can do anything like she has shown us by winning Wimby, Olympics and the USO in one summer plus 3 more big titles overall.

      3. Hmmm…tough one! I haven’t watched many to begin with, so I’ll choose Space Jam(the movie about Michael Jordan and the Looney Toons haha). I heard Million Dollar Baby is a great movie so I’ll definitely watch that one! I’m not the biggest fan of sports movies in particular, simply because like Third Mall said, they are predictable and a bit cliche.

      4. Serena and Henin hate each other, Serena and Maria hate each other, Maria and Vika hate each other, Novak and Federe hate each other, so my answer is Novak and Rafa. Novak and Rafa seem to have a very relationship off court as well as on court and they both respect each other a lot, so that’s my choice.

      5.
      Men:
      Aussie Open final- Amazing drama.
Wimbledon final- Good quality even though the outcome was inevitable.
French Open final- Inconsistent, but still some solid quality.
USO final- lots of drama but one of the lowest quality GS finals in the last 5 years.

      Women:
USO final- Unbelievable drama and comeback at the end.
Wimby final- Not the best final, but better than the other two.
FO final- great play by the champion and career defining moment.
AO final- I barely remember this match.

      6. Maybe Laura Robson, I see a lot of potential and a lot that could be done with her game/strategy. She is a new, up and coming and young player with a lot of potential, she just needs good guidance, though I imagining myself being a tennis coach is unrealistic, but of course, it’s all hypothetical.

      7. Robson since she’s closer to it at the moment. SHe is 57 and Watson is 67, but I see them both being Top 50 very soon, especially Robson.

      8. Novak- I wish he had more confidence. His game is working fine and so is his mentality, but he gets down on himself and looks very insecure when he is losing. As for Serena, game wise there is nothing to fix apart from her movement on clay. If she can finally fix the way she moves on the red clay, she could do some damage at the FO.

      9. I don’t think so, but at the same time, it’s really weird thinking about the FO being in January! Hypothetically, if it was, then he wouldn’t have won as many FOs since like you said, he peaks in April/May/June.

      10. Definitely not and I wouldn’t agree that they are the anti-climax of Slams. It’s good the way it is and it shouldn’t change. I don’t get all the criticism it gets really, it’s unfair.

      Great questions!

@Milica: Read the question again. It was about GS finals and Serena wasn’t in the French Open final.
