17 December 2013 | 6:03 pm After tonight's MegaMillions lottery drawing, someone could be walking away $636 million richer. The odds of winning, however, are less enticing: 1-to-259,000,000. Jackpot daydream open line

15 December 2013 | 11:12 pm The Sunday line is open. Nothing to report except that, following custom, I made a sucker bet today on the Megamillions jackpot. I always buy a dollar's worth of daydreaming whenever a Jackpot reaches a level at which the lump sum payout, after taxes, will clear $100 million. Why waste my money on an infinitesimal chance of winning just chump change. The payout on the current $550 million … http://www.arktimes.com/ArkansasBlog/archives/2013/12/15/jackpot-daydream-open-line

Is It Legal To Start A Lottery Pool In Missouri? Ie: Powerball, Megamillions, ShowMeCash, Etc.? Hello,

I was wondering if it is legal to form a small lottery pool in the state of Missouri? Something involving mostly friends, family, co-workers and facebook friends? I don’t think the pool would surpass 500 people?

This would be similar to most office lottery pools that take place. In my office we have a lottery pool that usually invovles around 100 people. If we win the jackpot, will we have any problem claiming the prize and dividing it up equally? We do have a contract that everyone signs when joining the pool.

Is there anything illegal about this?

Also, what if the lottery pool charged a small service fee, like $1 for 30 days worth of plays. So somebody would pay $31 for 30 draws.

Can I Win Powerball Or Megamillions This Way? I know people in China is like 12 hours in advance, I wonder if I can have a friend tells me what the numbers were drawn so I could play those numbers like an hour before the drawing, my friend could check the numbers on the internet and message me online, will this work? The powerball drawing is around 11pm so if I play at 10 pm or earlier I would still get the winning numbers because my friend in China is 12 hours in advance so he would’ve got the winning numbers already and already have messages me the winning numbers to play as early as 12pm right here in the US

I Am A Malaysian Residing In Malaysia. Is It Legal To Buy Oversea Lotteries From Online Websites? Example, lottery is megamillions and website use is like thelotter.com.
If it is legal, can someone provide me whether I will be taxed for the winnings that i have won in malaysia. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you

Whether or not it’s legal for you to buy this while you’re in Malaysia is irrelevant. There are ZERO legitimate websites that offer US lottery tickets on-line to non-residents. I’m in the USA, and we can’t even buy on-line tickets except for in a very small handful of states. (I think 3 states.) Even in those states, the on-line sales are only for those people who live in that state.

If someone is offering you an on-line sale of a lottery ticket, they are ripping you off, and they have one of the best scams on the planet!

Think about it. The lottery is already THE WORST bet on Earth. No other standard form of gambling even comes close to the only 50% payback rate of the lottery companies. Now add to that the fact that these scam sites are always going to pay out the lowest prizes, just so they can stay in business; however, if anyone of their customers ever hit a big prize, they would fold up overnight and nobody would ever find them.

These people don’t even need to buy a ticket! They just need to continue paying out the small prizes. They’ll occasionally have to pay out a slightly bigger prize, but they will NEVER pay out the multimillion dollar prizes.

Save your money. Worth repeating – BY FAR the lottery is the worst bet on the planet. The lottery is a TAX on the poor and on the ignorant. It’s all the worse still if you are trusting bogus on-line lottery websites.

What’s The Relative Risk-reward Ratio Of The Four CA Lotteries? If you look at the MegaMillion, with $1 getting you a chance for $20 million, then at the Powerball, which costs $2 but gives a chance for $186 million, the Powerball looks way better. But the Fantasy 5, with fewer numbers, may give a better chance to win, although smaller amounts. How do you solve an equation like that? Personally, I’d be happy just getting the mortgage paid off, and would prefer really good odds with a thousand winners every week, to gawking at somebody who wins a hundred million and is broke ten years later!

Go for the one with the better chance of winning and putting money in your pocket. A man with a little money in is pocket is a lot better off than the man with a lot of money on his mind.

Trouble With Phone Sim!?!?!?!?!?!? This is probably not possible.. but worth a try. My old number (on Vodafone) was on contract. When my contract ended I started a new contract with a different network provider (O2) and chose to have a new number. I still have my old sim with my old number but I don’t think it’s working. Do you know if Vodafone can send me a new sim with my old number and have it as pay as you go? I need my old number to receive a text to confirm something… no I can’t confirm it on my new number. Thanks!

    • Curator says:

      Its possible…. but highly improbable……….

Phone numbers are ONLY active if you are continuously paying the monthly bill, OR refilling the prepaid phone card , OR renewing the prepaid monthly plan….

if you FAILED to do that, then you have lost 100000000000000% rights to that phone number. The number is now—– Disconnected. The wireless carrier then sends the diconected number to a system called the Port Magistrate, where it sits for 90 days where it is scrubbed. Scrubbed means all personal info is removed from the number. Usually takes 90 days for telemarketers and bill collecters to get the idea that you no longer have a connected phone. lmao Once it has been scrubbed, it is available and open to all new customers on all wireless carriers in your region.

there is no way to ge tthe number back after its disconnected.. You will have to wait 90 days… and…. the odds of you getting the number back after alll that……………………………… 1:5,000,000,000,000,000,000………. your chances of winning a 700 million megamillions jackpot is better than this.
