  • In Light Of The News, Does The Community Of Atheists And Liberals Owe Patriotic Americans A Crouching Apology? The liberal online magazine Salon published an opinion piece Tuesday evening by columnist David Sirota entitled, “Let’s hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American.”

Sirota argued that if the perpetrator of Monday’s bombing attack, which left at least three people dead, is identified as a Muslim, then conservative Republicans will use the tragedy to block Obama administration policy goals like immigration reform.

[…]Sirota is not the only liberal media commentator to attempt to politicize Monday’s tragedy. CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer speculated on a link between Patriots Day and the motive behind the bombings, while NBC News reporter Luke Russert speculated that the 1993 Waco siege, which occurred on Patriots Day, might have inspired a right-wing terrorist in Boston.

New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof used the tragedy to attack Republican politicians, tweeting Monday, “Explosion is a reminder that ATF needs a director. Shame on Senate Republicans for blocking apptment.” Kristof later apologized for the tweet.

Sirota has employed attention-grabbing, race-baiting rhetoric in the past.

Sirota said in December, in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, that a new profiling system should be established to monitor mentally-ill individuals, but that Republicans would not support that effort because it would mean profiling white men

Soooooo, cupcake, I see you’re making the bold choice to ignore the right-wing bigots in the Twitterverse who have been screaming that all immigration should be shut down while ignoring the fact that the VAST majority of terrorism perpetrated in the US in the last 40 years has been home-grown to kvetch about an opinion piece.

      Very narrow of you.

  • Do You Ever Feel As If The Media Is As Disorganized And Incompetent As Our Governnent? http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/runners-fingered-as-bombing-suspects-875362

Everyone saw this picture of these suspects somewhere. Is anyone even shocked that they didn’t fact check before reporting who the suspects were? Yes, it turns out that they were Marathon runners.

I worked in the news media for 12 years.
It’s a business and your main goal is going to be keeping people seated and listening.
If you can’t achieve that, your advertisers leave. It’s a simple bottom-line question.
(As one news director used to put it: Offend them if you must, but whatever you do, don’t bore them)

And today, we’ve got the 24 hour news cycle.
The fact is there’s simply no way to fill that with 24 hours of meaningful information, 7 days a week. There’s just not that much relevant information coming in.
So what do you do? You fill the time. You get pundits over and actually, there’s not that much of an agenda there. There’s a kind of flavour if you will. Fox doesn’t invite the same people over as NBC but still… for the most part, they put on the air anybody who can look credible.

And with the CNN case, that’s because there’s a lot of pressure to be the one to “break” the story. Journalistic ethics definitely took a dive the way they did it.
For an insider, it was obvious something was fishy. Any reporter who says “a source” without naming it is either a) protecting informants which, in this case, meant protecting a police officer who had no qualms about compromising an investigating (How reliable could this guy possibly be if he’s willing to do that?) or b) You don’t really have an informant. Some guy at the front desk said something. You can’t name him because you’d look ridiculous. “Yeah… the receptionist at the police station said that…”

Why Do We Have To Go To Outside News Sources To Learn Of Stuff Like This? 4/17/13 Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2310110/Obama-administration-SLASHED-budget-domestic-bombing-prevention-45-cent-says-Homeland-Security-Assistant-Secretary.html#ixzz2QiobeARg

Obama administration has SLASHED budget for domestic bombing prevention by 45 per cent, says former Homeland Security Assistant Secretary

$20 million budget under Bush became $11 million under Obama
Here’s a hint as to why:

    Democrats dominate the major media.

How Americans saw the mainstream media (TV and print) election coverage in 2008:
-Rasmussen poll: 69% for Obama, 6% for McCain
-Pew Research poll: 67% for Obama, 11% for McCain
-Sacred Heart University poll: 68% for Obama, 9% for McCain
-Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll: 67% for Obama, 11% for McCain

    U. of Cal. Department of Public Policy survey of journalists, nationwide: During the 2008 election 52% supported Obama, 19% McCain.

9/2009 Sacred Heart U. Poll: 69.9% saw national news media as promoting the Obama presidency while 26.5% disagreed.

8/15/12 Rasmussen Poll: 59% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the media favored Obama, 18% Romney.

Number of Republican president candidates the New York Times endorsed since 1960? NONE.

The pro-democrat media has ten times more viewers than pro-Republican Fox News:
5/25/11 huffingtonpost.com: NBC Nightly News averaged 9.469 million viewers, ABC’s World News 8.380 million; CBS Evening News 6.204 million; among cable networks, Fox News 2.556 million.

    • Curator says:

Because US news outlets are largely in the tank for Obama. We can blame them when his second term produces no positive effects for our country.
