Does Bud Selig Stink For Putting The MLB Playoffs On Expensive Cable Opposed To Free NFL Playoffs? I’m poor I can’t afford expensive cable so I almost missed the entire MLB playoffs. I only got to watch the ALCS & World Series on FOX network TV.
The NFL has their entire playoff schedule on free network TV.
Is Bud Selig to blame for taking the MLB playoffs off the free networks?

  • Seabiscuit says:

Should The NFL Consider Reseeding Playoffs Purely By Record? Yes or no, why?
It would reward teams for winning more games, isn’t that fair?
Divisions stay the same and if you win your division, you go to the playoffs, but the emphasis would rewarding the more successful team instead of rewarding the team who happens to be in a weaker division.
No, the team with the better record would get a home game in the first round, that’s all it would do. Everything would pretty much stay the same. For example, many people think the 12-4 49ers earned the right to play at home, instead they’re playing an 8-7-1 Packers team in Lambeau.

The website says the NFL will consider a change in the offseason to record based seeding. Doubt they do it, but they should consider out of principle.

    • Curator says:

No because it would defeat the purpose of divisions other than a uniform way of making a schedule. plus, it defeats the possibility of loading up divisions. under the current format, only 3 teams from a single division can make the playoffs. if best records were made, then some divisions would be wiped out of the playoffs completely some years. a few years ago, the entire nfc west was garbage just like the nfc east is now.

NFC Wildcard: 1849ers At GB Packers? Packers fans,

Sunday’s NFC Wildcard is at Lambeau, with the Pack hosting the Santa Clara-SF 1849ers at Lambeau.

    Q 1. Why?

Asked because SC/SF 1849ers (12-4) have the better record than GB Packers (8-7).

source: NFL Schedule / Y! NFL
BTW: NOT an SC/SF fan, but assumed the stronger W-L record has the home field.

    • Curator says:

It all has to do with the division the teams are in. The Packers, who are in the NFC North, beat the Bears last week to win their division. The SF 49ers, who are in the NFC West, had much tougher competition being in arguably the hardest conference in football. The 49ers record was second to the Seahawks, who won the NFC West, causing SF to be a wildcard.

  • Garrett b says:

Why Was 49ers Falcons Not Flexed Out Of The Monday Night Slot? I can see why they picked this game last year nfc championship rematch but atlanta has been awful all season why could ESpn not have flexed a better game in

    • Curator says:

When you think about it, it could be because there is no other game scheduled on Monday. But that’s only my guess.

Schedules are finalized in about March by the NFL (not ESPN). Teams sell tickets beginning in about April. Games can’t be “flexed” in December to have a “better game” on Monday night.

This is the last game at Candlestick Park. If the game is really boring, more time will be spent reviewing the history of “The ‘Stick”.
