    Best Easy Site For Online Kentucky Derby Betting? Getting tired and a little intimidated of being the only woman in the OTB place standing on line making a bet. I only bet for the 3 races, KD, Preakness, Belmont. Whats a good site online. Thanks.
    The last time I was there, the guys in back of me were so hyper to get in front of me, sweating, I could tell he wanted me to rush, whats the rush?

    My First OTB Chess Tournament? First, it is a swiss system paring. Does that mean if you lose a game your out?
    Also, I am not afraid of most of my competitors. Infact, only two give me a challenge. I know I can outplay them, but I’m freaking out that I won’t. I want to win this one, because the winner moves on to an even bigger tournament. What should I eat the night before and that morning, and how should I warm up before the tournament? Any tricks, or tips? Thanks a lot.

    • Curator says:

      Eat light before a chess tournament nothing heavy………….

      1) No junk food if your hungry during the tournament bring some yogurt and some fruit oranges grapes pears apples bananas or granola bars.

      2) No soft drinks like coke or pepsi drink fruit juice or orange juice.

      3) Make sure you understand the rules of tournament chess how to use the clock and the proper etiquette during play if you have a question during the tournament or a complaint about your opponent and you need your section TD just raise your hand and he or she will come to you don’t yell for him or her and disturb the other players.

      4) When you register for the tournament make sure you have everything in order your money to pay the entrance fee etc so the line can move along smoothly everyone appreciates that.

      5) Before rounds while your waiting avoid playing blitz and bughouse relax no playing when your resting

      Good luck I know your scared don’t B.S. us your not everyone is nervous their first time and that’s ok just do your best show sportmanship win or lose and have fun.

      Every game is a new lesson and a learning opportnuity if you lose look on the bright side your paying your dues and getting experience that’s what you need besides studying and hard work if you want to become a 2000 player someday.

    Would Anyone Be Interested In A Blindfold Chess Group? I prefer to think of this as abstract chess, because I am more focused on reasoning in my imagination rather than memory. Also, playing this way requires greater imagination and concentration than regular chess, so I prefer playing in my mind rather than playing OTB chess. The problem with this is it’s hard to find peers.

    Would anyone be interested in this type of group, and developing your ability to play entirely in your mind through e-mail games? Integrity is a must, and I give my word as a gentleman that I won’t cheat. E-mail me if you would like a mind’s only match, and you may have the white pieces. TY:)

    P.S Also, I’m aware of chess sites, clubs, books etc:) Those just don’t stimulate my needs as they are all geared toward using boards, men, or both. I’m searching for others who are looking to be unique from the rest and would like to develop their interests to a higher level:)
    TY for your answers so far. King Slayer, I made the distinction between BF chess and abstract chess. I practice the latter, which focuses on the reasoning aspect of chess (the former focuses on memory and is seen as a sideshow). For me, playing this way (abstract chess) is real chess. The games become a part of me and they feel natural. Playing the game well is always the challenge.

    • Curator says:

      Mark H is correct. As you say, Blindfold Chess is much different from real chess.
      Nobody encourages you play blindfold chess online. It is a bad thing.
      Blindfold chess is the game’s sideshow event. It’s not considered pure chess.

      Paul Morphy’s friends warned him about playing more than eight games at once;
      he did anyway and eventually went insane.
      — and Soviet authorities banned blindfold chess altogether in 1930.
      A player’s mental health could be endangered by playing without sight of the board.

      Bobby Fischer agreed with the Soviet chess authorities, who consider it too much
      of a mental strain, and perhaps he also regarded it as not a serious form of his art
      — a sort of a stunt.”
      This comment mirrors what Garry Kasparov said about blindfold chess;
      he called it a “sideshow.” http://ImmortalChess.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4993

    My Neice’s Boyfriend Co-signed For A Car Loan For Her.? She went from driving a beater to driving a 2012. I know that’s great, but what happens if she loses her job, or they break up? This is what I am trying to tell my sister (her mom). I don’t want to spoil the joy over getting a new car, but this is just not the way I’d want to get it. She is only 20, and works OTB as a nanny. We all know these jobs come and go depending on the mood of the employer.

    Tournament Chess With Pieces Laying Down? Would it be illegal in an OTB chess tournament (USCF tournament to be precise) to take your pieces, and rather than have them stand up normally, lay them down awkwardly? Not even saying my opponent would have to do it, too, just could I randomly lay them down on the squares?

    I understand they could say “adjust” 16 times and put them back up, and maybe I could say “adjust” 16 more times and lay them down, but I feel it could really psyche an opponent out playing like that.
    Yo, Mark, I just turned 18 and I’d kick your ass in chess, I’m actually very good and have been in many tournaments, don’t talk to me like I’m an immature little kid. It was just a thought I had about whether or not you could, it just seems weird and i don’t see any rule that says that it would be banned.

    Also, I would be warned well before being kicked out.

    • Curator says:

      If I were the tournament director, I would rule that your conduct violates USCF Rule 20 A. “Players shall participate in the spirit of fair play and good sportsmanship, . . ”

      I wouldn’t kick you out, I would just rule that you forfeit the game. I don’t think I would issue a warning because it is apparent that your conduct is deliberate and intended to influence the outcome of the game in a manner that is unrelated to playing chess.
