Are Any Of You Going To Give A Shot At That Powerball Lottery? Well… I might:) Obviously. $260,000,000 dollars return for a $1 investment? Yes! Something at last that can put me and my family on easy street forever. I would like to purchase a number of real estate properties around NJ, and a 6,000 sq ft Tudor style home for my family worth $6,000,000 with a Wine Cellar. What about you?

Please Help With This Situation 🙁 (girl/family Issues)? Ok, so to begin, I’m 16 and the girl is 14. We’re both Jehovah’s Witnesses (might seem kind of random that I mentioned that, but it makes sense.) I met her about 3 years ago through mutual friends that we had and I’ve liked her ever since I first saw her. I used to be really shy so I almost never talked to her. But around April 2012 I decided to grow a pair and start talking to her more. We started texting quite a bit (like a couple hours every few days) just about like music and stuff, but I was too nervous to tell her I like her. I also started talking with her best friend quite a bit and eventually I told her friend about how I liked her. She told her friend that I liked her and it turned out that she liked me back….but she didn’t tell me right away. She’d been hurt before and she wanted to make sure that I really did have strong feelings for her and that I wouldn’t just leave her. So after a couple months she told me that she liked me too. The thing is that, as JW’s, we’re not allowed to date until we’re old enough for marriage, which we’re obviously not. So we just thought that we’d keep our feelings secret from other people. Eventually people (including our parents) noticed and starting saying things about it. This resulted in our parents saying that they didn’t want us texting each other anymore….but we decided to keep doing it anyway. We ended up getting caught and my dad took away my phone for a month and every time we’d go to a party or movie or anything the girl was at, he’d tell me that I wasn’t allowed to be by her (which I ignored.) After I got my phone back we continued talking and about a month ago we got caught again, and I still don’t have my phone back. My dad says that he just doesn’t want me stuck in a relationship that I hate being in, but me and the girl have talked alot and we’re both sure that we want to spend the rest of our lives with eachother. What makes me mad though is that my dad says things about her like “Oh, you could do so much better than her” and tells me I’m not ready to be in a relationship, but then he encourages me to go after other girls. My dad used to be friends with her dad, but now he doesn’t want anything to do with him. Her parents really like me though and my mom likes her and her parents. My dad seems to be the only one with issues. It just sucks because I only get to see her like once every two months, and I just love her so much and am thinking about her constantly. And now her best friend (who was also one of my best friends) says that she doesn’t want us to talk anymore because it isn’t fair that she can talk to me, but the girl can’t. I know for certain that this is the girl I want to marry, and we have even talked about how as soon as she’s 18 we want to be together, but I just don’t know what to do. I don’t want to screw up my relationship with my family, but I don’t want to spend the rest of my life with them, I want to spend it with her. Leaving the religion isn’t a possibility either, because I really do believe in it, and so does she…So please help. any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.

    • Curator says:

You are in a lose/lose/lose situation. There is nothing good that can come from this. Unless you are really ready to wait 4 years to be with her.

Even then, this situation is going to be extremely difficult.

At some point in every young man’s life, he needs to assert his independence from his parents. To do this, you need to be able to support yourself, financially. You are a minimum of 8 years away from financial independence…and that would be assuming you got a good college degree and a great job, right out of college.

In the meantime, you are dependent on your parents to ummmmm…LIVE. So you (unfortunately) have to kind of listen to what they say and do as they tell you to do.

Now your father is 100% wrong in his attitude toward your young lady. But he’s also your father and you DO have to obey him still.

I think you need to sit down with your father WITH A NEUTRAL THIRD PARTY and have a long chat about this girl. HE needs to understand that, with or without his blessing, you intend to have some kind of relationship with her. No matter what he does, he can’t “stop” you two from relating to each other. But at the same time, he can certainly make your life miserable. And there’s no need for it, really.

Bluntly, (speaking as a dad here), I think your dad is being foolish. The odds of a relationship starting at 14/16 years old and lasting past high school…
The odds against it are astronomical. You’d have a better chance of winning powerball with a one dollar single ticket than you would of eventually having a happy marriage with your 14-year-old sweetheart that you met around age 16. I’m not saying it won’t happen.
But YOUR FATHER surely knows exactly what I just wrote, about how unlikely it is that the relationship will work out for the two of you…
So his actions, to try to keep the two of you apart…do not make much sense. Is he trying to protect you from getting hurt? Maybe. But it’s impossible to stop a broken heart. So his actions still don’t make much sense if he’s trying to protect you. Some lessons just HAVE to be learned the hard way. You are going to get your heart broken. It’s going to happen. Your Dad can’t stop it from happening, if that’s what he’s thinking…

Anyway, enough of my rambling about how foolish I think your dad is.

You have to get him to see that his actions are only causing YOU to be miserable, for no good reason at all. Your dad can’t honestly expect you to have no female friends until you are out of his house. So is he going to say yay/nay for every girl you want to form a friendship with? If so, why? Does he not trust you to choose your own friends? If not, why not?

You have to get your dad to change his attitude, somehow. That means you need to confront him. If you do it alone, it will turn into an argument…and you won’t like the consequences of that. You need an arbitrator. Some neutral third party. Maybe an aunt or uncle on your mother’s side of the family, who knows nothing about the conflict?

      Good luck, buddy.

Help On How The Lottery System In Usa Works? When you win the new jersey powerball …how much do they pay you annuity? what percentage of the jackpot is given each year?

  • Tony says:

I Want To Play The Lottery? I wanna see if I can win, iv always been lucky so why not… The thing is I never did it before, so all i know is that they sell them at 711. what do I say?

    • Curator says:

Go up to the cashier and say, “I’d like one quick pick ticket for the PowerBall, please”. (Or whatever drawing you want to buy. The PowerBall has a jackpot right now around $260 million.)

You give him $2 for the ticket, and he gives you the ticket. (Yes, PowerBall costs $2 now.)

If he asks you if you want the “PowerPlay”, just say no. That will cost you an extra dollar, and it’s just not worth it.

By the way, it’s good that you never did it before. To say these tickets are a waste is an understatement. They are the worst bet on the planet. No other standard form of gambling comes even close to being as bad a bet as the lottery. If you buy just ONE ticket once in a while, perhaps it’s worth it to give you that dream of “hitting it big”. Any more spent than that is a total waste of money.
