      GA is considered not simply Southern but the DEEP SOUTH and Atlanta is the Empire State of the South – meaning the southern New York City.

      Every southeastern state has its own distinct dialect.

      In Georgia where you find a “ville” following a town name, it is NOT pronounced that way. It is pronounced “VUL”, as in Gainsvul.

      Georgia is the nations number one producer of the three Ps–peanuts, pecans, and peaches. [AND fryers – that’s poultry meant strictly for fried chicken]

      Okefenokee Swamp encompasses over 400,000 acres of canals; moss draped cypress trees, and lily pad prairies providing sanctuaries for hundreds of species of birds and wildlife including several endangered species.

      In 1829, gold was discovered in the North Georgia mountains, which led to the Georgia Gold Rush and an established federal mint in Dahlonega, which continued its operation until 1861.

      The Blue Ridge Mountains in the north, foot hills in the south, the large glacier lakes, substantial lakes and rivers, an enormous swamp, wetlands, a large island chain, wide open flat piedmont, the lovely forests, underground hot minerals springs.

      You can snow ski on Friday, lay out on the beach on Saturday, and go hunting in the swamp on Sunday — driven all by yourself and still be at home early enough to eat what you caught in the swamp.

      Georgia runs from Sea Level to 4800 feet Above Sea Level.

      Two major mountains, Stone Mt and Kennesaw sit by themselves in an urban area. The carving of Robert E Lee on Stone Mountain is large enough for several grown men to fully stand with their arms extended inside the General’s ear.
