What,if Anything, have You Done For Record Store Day? Do you still support independent stores?

In its heyday there were over 2,200 independent record stores in the UK.Fast forward to 2009 and there are only 305 left.Is the final nail in the coffin about to be hammered soon?

      I wasn’t aware i’m afraid…..been living in a wee bubble for a while !!!
There’s still a few indie stores in Edinburgh, still selling vinyl too, namely Avalanche, Fopp, Vinyl Villains and a rake of second hand stores.
Whenever i can, i shop at the indie stores, been with Avalanche since it opened donkeys ago, they went on to put stuff out on their label….Jesse Garon and the Desperados, Shop Assistants and they released a load of the Flying Nun stuff from New Zealand….The Chills, The Verlaines, The Bats, Straitjacket fits, The Clean….classic indie pop !!!
Belle and Sebastian and Teenage Fanclub have played shop gigs for Avalanche too……a truly fantastic wee shop and arguably the best time in indie history…there’s always been a strong indie scene in Scotland…….unfortunately i’m unsure about the current scene but i do like a lot of the newer stuff i’ve heard here and there !!!
The Smiths got me through my adolescence and they’re still rarely ever touched !!!
Have a star amigo…..hop yer sound ma man !

Confused About Record Store Day? This year will be the first time I am participating in record store day… I like the list on the website, but many record stores don’t have THEIR websites updated… how do I know what goes to which store? Will these independent websites give a list of what they will be receiving closer to the date?

  • Record Store Day Black Friday Releases? For those who know about it, what are you excited for? I am going to get in like early for the Blood Sugar Sex Magik rerelease and the Nevermind vinyl edition.

    What about you?

BQ: do you find record collectors weird? I have been under fire for it many times, for I am 13 and could always go on iTunes. But I love CDs and Records!

BQ2: favorite record you own? When did you buy it? Is it rare?

BQ3: albums they should release on vinyl?

I don’t believe in paying for music. I prefer to help the artists in destroying corporate record label by downloading music.
