Why Are The Yahoo News Comments So Conservative? I was recently reading an article about Reza Aslan and Fox News on Yahoo News and I noticed how conservative the comments are. Someone actually said “Fox News has been the best news channel since its creation and haters will continue to hate”. And it got over a hundred likes. Seriously?!?! You know your conservative when you proclaim that Fox News is the best news channel.

Help Finding A Book That Was On The Colbert Report? It was about Jesus from a historical stance instead of a religious stance, it sounded really interesting. It was on a few nights ago, but I just can’t find it! It could’ve been a rerun, but who knows?

Explanation About A Joke On Colbert Report? Stephen: Mr. Aslan, thank you so much for coming on the show.

Reza: Thanks for having me. Happy Easter!

Stephen: Thank you very much, and Happy — are you a Christian?

    Reza: I am a Muslim.

Stephen: Is there anything you’re celebrating right now?

    Reza: Umm, Easter.

    Stephen: Oh, Easter? Yes?

Reza: Well, you know, we paint eggs and stuff ourselves full of chocolate.

    Stephen: Do you really?

    Reza: No, no.

Stephen: No, you don’t. So you’re not like Jewish people doing the Chanukah bush. (No.) You should think about it — Easter’s great. (Well, I’ll remember that.) It’s fantastic. You celebrate the resurrection of the one true Lord.

    Reza: Oh, right. Which Lord?

Stephen: Jesus. (Oh, Jesus, right.) God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. You’ve heard of him?

    Reza: I’ve seen the movie.

Colbert was spechless after that.I didn’t get the joke.

    Please Explain.Thanks

  • Muslims, Would You Like To Explain This Quran Verse(s)? YUSUFALI: And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.
Im a 15 year american Muslim guy, but I’d never go that low. I love Christians, infact all of my friends are chirstians, and also, my aunt is a Christian.

    • Curator says:

In his book “NO God But God’ Reza Aslan took great pains to explain that that verse was only referring to the Pagans of Mecca who hunted Muslims like wild animals. Of course it’s only fair that they should protect themselves. Yes?
However, fanatic Muslims quote the very same verse to mean that all Muslims should be killed.
There can be different interpretations to that verse.

Why Was This Reported? Someone asked a question about Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. They assumed that each were basically formed from the prior religion. This was my answer:

“Well, something like that. There is not doubt about Christianity being a direct offshoot of Judaism. Christians claim the messianic prophecy had been fulfilled (or half-fulfilled) through Jesus. Muhammad and his people were originally polytheistic (and they did not worship a moon god! Where do people get that from?! Their primary deities were female deities called the daughters of Allah). Long story short, Muhammad was a merchant who obviously traded and conversed with many Christians and Jews. At some point he associated the creator god in his pantheon (Allah) with the god of Abraham and then declared all other deities and idols false. One should also take note that in most pantheons, the creator is never worshiped so there are no images or idols dedicated to them. This is also why he “cleansed” the Kaaba by destroying all other idols and images in this holy place of theirs.”

Even though I didn’t quote a source, my information concerning Islam came from Reza Aslan’s book “No God But God”. He’s a Muslim scholar/author/apologist. I didn’t just make the stuff up. But my main question is, how did this violate community guidelines? I’m starting to get reported for answers like this so often that I believe I’m just getting harassed. Since Y!A can’t explain to me where I’ve violated I’m hoping someone else can figure it out.
I did appeal it. The last time I appealed something, Y!A still claimed I violated some phantome guideline. This place is a joke.
@ Clusium – Well nothing wrong with us disagreeing. I respect your reply as much as you respect mine.
@ Sarah – Thanks for the heads up. This one was from the community.
    @ Lightning – I can’t believe I never thought of that

Is Reza Aslan A Christian? Sorry, this might be a really stupid question, because he talks about islam and stuff like that. but tehn he mentions christianity and how he was one?
    so i’m a little confused.
    is he a christian?
and if you found it from a website, can you post that up as well.
