My Hair Is A Mess, What To Do? How Do I Braid My Hair Before Bed And Not Look Like A Witch? I really don’t know what to do with my hair anymore. Since I cut it so short to cut off the heat damage hairstyles just don’t look as well on me. My hair was cut into a bob but I only had straight hair in mind when I did this. I don’t want to straighten my hair constantly anymore though. I’ve decided to not use heat when I style my hair to minimize breakage and get my hair growing again. I have curly/poofy/a bit wavy/frizzy hair, I’m mixed race (black Hispanic). It looks like a curly afro when dry. My hair also gets really dry now. It used to be super oily and I would have to wash it nearly every day and it was shiny with more bounce when I used to flat iron like all the time. But now I stopped and I don’t really add products to my hair so it’s dry and a bit dull. My hair is definitely really soft though.

When I ask for style tips from others all I ever hear is relax it (I’m definitely against that), do things like bantu knots or close tight braids(I find them ugly on me), or just tie it up and I’m tired of tying it up always. My mother has long, thick, wavy hair (think native american hair) and she would just tie my hair up in a bun for most of my childhood because she didn’t know how to style my type of hair.

My sister (she has wavy/really thin hair) told me to braid my hair before I sleep while it’s damp so it my hair will be more curly or wavy and easier to do. Though my hair is curly the curls don’t stay in too well and wave out or frizz/poof up. But when I woke up it looked like someone crimped an afro.
    Kind of like this: http://www.hji.co.uk/hjimages/images/qhs2290/hji/medium/2005-brunette-crimped.jpg
But it didn’t look half as good as it does on that model.

    My hair naturally looks like:
    http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/img-thing?.out=jpg&size=l&tid=62259954
    http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_maglbucFXE1rwr2q9o1_500.jpg

A mix of those two but shorter and a bit frizzier since I can’t seem to keep the brush away from my hair and it takes the curl out of it and leave frizz and poof.

How can I control my hair and what styles can I use? Also like my main question is, how I can braid my hair for the night and wake up with better looking hair like I see on some girls in youtube vids? If I comb it out a bit it poofs and if I leave it I look a mess and forced to tie it up which I hate. I want to try all those nice hairstyles but my hair is just so short and ugly and the styles are usually for straight/wavy hair.
