Is This A Good Story Opener? These are the first few paragraphs from a story I’m writing. Is it attention-getting? Does it make you want to read more?
Also, are “lie down” and “lay back down” grammatically correct?
Oh, and “Vati” is German for father 🙂

    Chapter 1
He awoke in the night with an eerie sensation that something was wrong. He rolled onto his stomach and peered out the window, his breath frosting the glass pane. Outside something cracked like thunder, but it couldn’t be thunder. Not in November, with the first snows about to arrive. From the front room came low, urgent voices, adding to his fear.
“Vati,” he called softly, “what is it?”
Almost instantly his father’s tall, burly frame filled the open doorway. “Lie down, Yosef,” he said. “Close your eyes. It’s all right.”
Yosef lay back down, but he didn’t close his eyes. He kept them glued to the windowpane. The darkness seemed to engulf him as he held his breath, waiting for something to happen.
    And then something did happen.
He was slipping into that dream-like state where you’re half-awake, half-asleep when something just outside his house exploded. Yosef felt himself slide out of bed and land hard on the drafty wooden floor, screams and chants filling his ears, and then his bedroom light snapped on and his little sister’s pale face was in his.
“What’s happening? Vati won’t tell me!”
Yosef was shrugging his shoulders when he caught sight of something just outside his window that made his heart temporarily cease beating.

I like it! Creepy too! You’re word choice is fantastic and it did make me want to read more. Great job! You should make a Wattpad account! It’s like a website where you share your stories, novels, and poems. People can vote and like your stories and stuff. It’s great! BTW, I don’t work for them, haha. It’s just a great site.

Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry Homework Help? I forgot what chapter this question is asking about but i think that it’s before chapter 7.
Based on your prior knowledge about life in the 1930’s and events from the novel, what do you think will happen to T.J.? Use examples to support your predictions.

How Do You Like This Magic Lantern Poem? “AFTER THE FLOOD”

Soon after the idea of the Flood
    regained its composure,
a hare paused amid gorse and
    trembling bellflowers to pray
to the rainbow through the spider’s

The precious stones were hiding, the flowers
    already peeking out.

Stalls rose in the dirty main street,
boats were towed toward a sea
    that rose layer upon layer
    as in old engravings.

    Blood flowed
    in Bluebeard’s house,
    in the slaughterhouses,
    the amphitheaters, where God’s seal
    turned the windows livid.
    Blood and milk flowed.

    The beavers were building.
    Tumblers of coffee
    steamed in the public houses.

    In the vast, streaming
    house of windows
    mourning children
    gazed at marvelous pictures.

    A door slammed.
    On the village square,
    a child waved his arms,
    brother of vanes and weathercocks,
    in dazzling rain.

    Madame XXX established
a piano in the Alps. Mass and
    first communions were celebrated
    at the cathedral’s hundred
    thousand altars.

    The caravans departed. And
    the Splendide Hotel was built
amid a tangled heap of ice
    floes and the polar night.

    Since then the Moon
    has heard jackals cheeping
    in thyme deserts, and eclogues
    in wooden shoes grumbling
in the orchard. In the budding
    purple forest Eucharis told me
    spring had come.

    Well up, pond, foam, roll
    on the bridge and above
the woods, black cloths and organs,
lightning and thunder, rise and roll:
Waters and sorrows, rise and revive
    the Floods.

    For since they subsided,
    (oh the precious stones shoveled
    under, and the full-blown flowers!)
so boring! and the Queen, the Witch
who lights her coals in the clay pot,
will never want to tell us what she knows,
and what we do not know.

Durant Is In My Top 5, Should Me Hating Westbrook Keep Me From Fully Liking Thunder? Ive really liked Durant, im from Texas and he came out of TX Longhorns, so ive always rooted for him, but Westbrook keeps me from liking Thunder as a team. Westbrook shoots and takes away like 10 more shots Durant should be taking. i mean Westbrook is good and will still get 10+/- assists but still, he needs to lern his roll
i was with you Kaka but you hate Melo? come on man
