Has CNN Responsed To Criticism Of Its Steubenville Rape Trial Coverage? When the verdict came down in the Steubenville rape trial, CNN’s coverage skewed curiously toward the impact the sentences would have on the defendants, with little to no mention of the rape victim. The interwebs got pretty pissed, and the story has been everywhere for a little less than 24 hours.

I searched around but couldn’t find any statement issued by CNN or any of the reporters being criticized. Has anyone seen any on-air statements that have been made, or any written response that I couldn’t find? I’m curious as to what their reaction will be, whether someone will be fired, etc.
Interesting point that the victim can’t be named – certainly she can still be mentioned as “the victim.” I don’t think there would be any objection to the coverage if all that happened was that CNN didn’t mention the victim – it’s when you set it in contrast to the reporter’s perceived empathy toward the promising young football players whose lives will be ruined by the sentence.

Is It “rape” When A High School Kid Puts His Fingers In Another (drunk) High School Kid?–steubenville-high-school-football-players-found-guilty-of-raping-16-year-old-girl-164129528.html

What the boys did was wrong, but is it the same as one person violently overpowering another and raping them? Is digital insertion as traumatic as leaving sperm and possibly an STD inside another person? Should this charge of “rape” follow these teenagers for the rest of their lives?

“The judge found that both boys used their fingers to penetrate the girl in the early hours of Aug. 12 while she was so drunk that she lacked the cognitive ability to give her consent for sex. […] Ohio’s legal definition of rape includes digital penetration.”
    ya coffee

I didn’t say it was OK or that they should get away with it.

You realize all of those details still don’t amount to “rape”, don’t you? Do you have any sources to support what you’re saying?

Verdict To The Steubenville Ohio Rape Case Of High School Teenagers? When it’s stated that the rapists will be in juvenile until they turn 21, does that mean they will only serve in juvy then will be freed when they turn 21? Or they will be transferred to real prison once they’re 21?

Do You Think The Steubenville Girl Just Wanted Money? I have heard alot of cases were the girls get mad for having a one night stand or there bf dumps them and call it rape to humilate the guy and get money, not because they want justice. She probably got around alot, and the main reason this was a big deal was becaus e of pictures.
