Music At The Taste Of Chicago, July 10-14? I am going to spend at least two days at the Taste of Chicago. Can anybody give me a brief summary of the types of bands and music that will be there? Or, a link to information on the various bands would be fine. Thanks!

Taste Of Chicago Concert 2013? My friend & I are going to the Taste of Chicago to go & see fun. in concert. We didn’t buy tickets but lawn seats are free. The doors open at 4 PM. What time do you think I should get there for good lawn seats? I’ve
never been there before!! Thank you!!

    • Curator says:

There will be plenty of lawn seating, but if you want to get the closest lawn seating get there an hour before the concert. Of course you have to factor in how popular the group is, the more popular the more people will be wanting the best lawn area. The lawn area has no seats, there might be a few picnic tables. Bring your own folding seats or bring a blanket(like a beach blanket) and if you have one, a sheet of plastic to put under your blanket if you want to stay dry in case the lawn is damp. There should be a big LED screen with views of the performers on stage. Have a Great Time!

Take each dog on a cutting board then take a sharp knife at an angle. Then roll to cut a spiral slice around the hot dog from one end to the other. Try to cut 1/4 of the way into the dog.

Now grill. The screw-threads type of cuts will then hold condiments like Ketchup, Mustard, Chili, etc.

My classic way to cook hot dogs:

Poach in salt water and 2 cloves of garlic. Not boil – poach for about 10 minutes. This totally cooks the dog and will mimic how hot-dog carts do it.

Then I grill for about 5 minutes to create a char/grill marks.

We like the classic like Chili and extra-sharp cheddar cheese. But you can add hot-wing sauce to the dog, etc.

One restaurant did “Chicago Style” with wax peppers from a jar and a sprinkle of celery salt.

Try Sauerkraut and Thousand Island Dressing for a Reuben Dog.

Take thick, smoky bacon and put on a cookie sheet in the oven at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes. This will make the rashers flat and crisp. Add 1 rasher to each hot dog for a more bacon/porky taste.
