What Would Be My Chances Of Getting Into A School Like University Of Texas?Or A Good School Of Equal Value? I go to a pretty good junior college in Texas, Blinn college. Ive had all A’s, a 4.0 Gpa for the last 2 semesters. Ive completed all the classes necessary to transfer for my major for most schools.(Exercise Science or Psychology) I have been working my ass off and was wondering if I could transfer to a very competitive school like University of Texas or another equivalent out of state school(ranking wise i guess). I know UT only automatically accepts top 10% of highschool students and is a very hard school to get into. I know i could get into a school like Texas A&M but I dont really want to go there, and im talking about schools a little better.
Any kind of relevant feedback would be much appreciated!

Can I Start Playing Football Sophomore/Junior Year In College? I have never played football besides for PE in high school. I feel like I would be decent. My only problem is that I am not that fast. I am 5′ 9″ 190 lb. I do lift weights and I have no problem with the physical part. Is it possible to get faster or to condition yourself for speed? I watch a lot of football as a fan but never played. I would consider playing as a DB. My college is D3 and not that good (1-4).

Real advice. I’m not expecting to get a scholarship from Texas A&M or anything just wondering if I should contact the head coach of my school’s football program.

  • Second Choice Major Besides Nursing(BSN)? I am in the process of applying for universities and most apps ask me to list a second choice major. All I’ve been wanting to do is go into Nursing(BSN) so I am completely lost when it comes to choosing a second choice. Does anybody have any suggestions? A major I could go into that could still help me get the prerequisites for nursing school, is that possible?

Also, I’m applying to Texas A&M and they dont have a specific pre-nursing major or plan so you basically can just major in anything just make sure to have all the pre-reqs for their nursing school but im not sure what to list as a major. They suggest General Studies, but would an actual degree be better like Allied Health or Biomedical Science? Sorry for all the questions, no one in my family has gone to college so I’m basically alone in this process.

    Any advice appreciated, thanks!!

If I Get A Degree In Kinesiology, Could I Go To The Military Med School? I want to get a degree in kinesiology at Texas A&M. I am thinking about joining the army as a doctor. I will do ROTC there and i was wondering if doing kinesiology would be a good major before med school because it is the study of sports medicene and the muscles and bones. would that be a good degree?

Which School Would Be The Best For Masters Degree? Right now I’m at UT working on my bachelor’s degree. I want to go to grad school and get an MS in Geology. Which schools in Texas are the most respected for a masters degree (besides UT because I probably won’t be able to go here again for my masters). My gpa when I’m finished with undergrad will be about a 3.5.

Out of these which one would be considered the best:

    University of Houston
    Sam Houston State
    Texas State
    Texas Tech
any others I may be forgetting about

I know obviously Rice and A&M will be the best, but in case I don’t get in to those schools, I’d like to stay in Texas and I need alternatives. I know recently Geology has gotten really popular so that means admissions are really competitive. I don’t think I want to go to any satellite schools (Like UTA, UT-Tyler, A&M Kingsville, etc… unless they are well respected).

Outside of Rice, UT, and A&M no one I know really talks about any other schools so I know of them, but I don’t know anything ABOUT them or how respected they are.

Does it even matter where you go for your masters? I know those above schools are a step down from UT… will that matter to an employer (good undergrad school, just ok grad school?)

I’m from Houston so I would like to do my masters in Houston if I can. How good is UH really? I know it’s not a tier one.. .but will the opportunities in Houston make up for the school??

I’d be happy to consider a reasonably priced OOS school if any of those exist.

I know I have a lot of questions and thanks to anyone who took the time to read all that! I just really need some opinions on where I should look.

Thanks so much for any opinions!
