Losing Tony Gonzalez Will Devastate the Atlanta Falcons Offense

21 January 2013 | 6:06 pm Tight end Tony Gonzalez is a surefire, first-ballot Hall of Famer. No tight end in the history of the NFL has caught more passes (1,242) or tallied more receiving yards (14,268) than Gonzalez, who ranks second and seventh, respectively of all receivers in the history of the league in those categories. When Gonzalez officially retiresand it really seems like it is a matter of when not ifits …

Reflecting on Tony Gonzalez

21 January 2013 | 4:30 pm ATLANTA — If Sunday really was the end of the road for Atlanta tight end Tony Gonzalez, and he sure made it sound like hes about to retire, its time for some reflection. At just about every other position, you can sit and argue for days, weeks, months or years about who is the best ever. And usually you cant even come to a universal agreement. But thats not the case with Gonzalez. When you …

Chances Of Tony Gonzalez Retiring ? Is It True That Tony Gonzalez Retiring ? Are Chances of Tony Gonzalez Retiring ? i heard so from my friends. It cant happen :(.

Tony Gonzalez has been one of my favourites. I just cant imagine that He is retiring. But what I read across a site is quite shocking to me. I never expected so actually

  • Saints 7-9 says:

WHY DO ATLANTA FALCONS FANS KEEP DELETING PEOPLE’S QUESTIONS ON YAHOO ANSWERS? I mean, get a life people. Your team lost again! The Saints are better than the Falcons. The Saints own the NFC South. Matt Ryan is 1-4 in the playoffs. Tony Gonzalez needs to retire. Roddy White needs better hands. The Falcons are done. 13-3 in the regular season. haha. What a waste of energy!
    T-Ham, are talking?

    • Curator says:

No, I think that’s T.I., big boi, and all those other biased Celebrity ATL fans who don’t know jack about football.

  • Why Was The Media Making A Big Deal About Ray Lewis? While totally ignoring Tony Gonzalez? Gonzalez is the best tight end in NFL history, he’s been a terrific ambassador for the game, and he has conducted himself with dignity, with not a whiff of controversy, for 16 years.
Yet all I’ve heard about the past couple of weeks is that gutless, self-promoting piece of garbage in Baltimore. What’s wrong with people?

  • Greg says:

Tony Gonzalez Has Opened The Door For A Possible Return; Will Ray Lewis? He said in the interview that “If I win a Super Bowl, you can absolutely put a wrap on my career.”

With that being said, would he return next season should Atlanta lose this week or a possible next week?

BQ: If the Ravens were to win this week, yet lose in the Super Bowl, would Ray Lewis make a possible NFL return?

    • Curator says:

Gonzales is probably finished regardless of the Falcons’ success. While one can see why he would want to return with all the young talent, don’t expect him to. It would make sense for him to go one last year to try and win/repeat, but in the long run, he’ll probably walk. It’s been a joy to watch him play. Even though he plays for my rival team, he’s always been entertaining and a great contributor to the game.

BQ: Lewis is a wrap for retirement. He’s given Baltimore the shove they needed to move past the Broncos, that’s all he can do. If they don’t win this year, they won’t win with him, he’s too old. He realizes that if he stays around too long, the team will be hurt by not being able to rebuild in a timely manor by evaluating replacements. He also knows he’s got other things he wants to get started on, such as maybe coaching, broadcasting, or just relaxing.

Serious Championship Game Predictions? Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’m a little sick of all the “homer” picks I keep reading on ESPN! Just looking for some honest and intelligent predictions for today’s games! Please tell me your predicted score along with some keys to the game…closes scores/reasoning gets BA!!!

      49ers 28 Falcons 17

Keys to the game. See if the 49ers offensive and defensive lines control line play. How will Colin Kaepernick handle the crowd noise and playing indoors? Will he be able to get his plays off in time? Can they get pressure on Matt Ryan and clamp down on Atlanta’s receivers?

Can the Falcons contain Kaepernick’s running? Can they give Matt Ryan the protection and the time he needs to hit his receivers: Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez?

If the game comes down to field goal kickers: BIG edge for the Falcons.

      Patriots 23 Ravens 17

Keys to the game: Patriots have to contain Ray Rice and not let Flacco beat them with the deep passes. On offense, play fast and tire out the Ravens defense.

Ravens have to hit on some deep pass plays and have Ray Rice rush for 100+ yards in the game. Can they keep the game close and steal a win in the 4th quarter?

  • Toughguy2 says:

Which Super Bowl Match Up Would Make For The Best Story Line In Your Opinion? I think it would be the Ravens vs the Falcons based on the last games in the great careers of Ray Lewis and Tony Gonzalez.
