Why Are The LA Angels Struggling, Considering They Got A Pretty Decent Offense And Pitching Staff? They have Jarrod Weaver, Dan Haren, and Ervin Santana for their starting rotations, along with CJ Wilson and Jarome Williams, both well above-average youngsters.
They have decent hitters too like Albert Pujols, Torii Hunter, Howard Kendrick, Izturis, and Vernon Wells.
They they’re still below .500. Why is that? I think they’ve got one of the better rosters on paper.
Well the logic as to why this team puzzles some people is the exact reason this team is this bad. The Angels were assembled by someone who doesn’t really follow recent scouting reports or closely follows current baseball. This team is made up by someone who only recognizes the big names, and thinks we are still in the steroid era of baseball. Hunter, Wells, and Pujols are recognizable names, but they are not the same guys they were 5 years ago. This new era of baseball puts more of a emphasis on defense and bullpen pitching, which oddly was a big reason the Angels won in 2002. These two areas the Angels are very weak in, and they resemble something of a Yankees team in the 90’s and 2000’s. What separates those Yankees teams from the Angels is simple, the Angels heart of the order isn’t as good as Arte Moreno tells you it is. Also signing Pujols set off a chain reaction of bad events that have snowballed. He has moved people around like Trumbo and Abreu, and this has caused drama. The drama has increased and turmoil in house has only grown as it looks like there is a divide between Pujols and Mickey Hatcher.
Sadly it looks like the franchise is more dedicated to marketing dinosaurs over putting emphasis on their young stars like Trumbo or Morales, one of which won’t probably be an Angels uniform by the end of the season (trade).
Also did I mention the starting pitching was slightly overrated as well. Santana and Haren have never been consistent pitchers even though they have ace stuff. Very good starting rotation but they are not as good as Philly 4 aces from last year.

Anyone Think Cameron Maybin Can Be Like Torii Hunter In A Few Years? Torii hunter in his prime
I think he’ll steal more bases but hit for less power. So overall, Maybin will probably have a similar career to Hunter as far as total production goes.
