In The Dark Knight Rises, Why Do The Women Like Selina Kyle And Miranda Tate Gain Trust So Easily? Is there a deeper meaning behind this? I think it’s because of chivalry, the men in the movie view the girls as in need of help and innocent and they give them their full trust, but little do they know that the women can handle themselves. Can anybody some specific examples of how Selina and Miranda gain trust so easily?

    • Curator says:

I would say you are correct, though I don’t know that “chivalry” is the correct word…the people in the movie seem to think that the women aren’t a threat and underestimate them because they look physically weaker and relatively harmless. I’d really call that more sexist than chivalrous…but you have the right idea.

As far as a “deeper meaning” I don’t really think there is one…its just a way of moving the plot along more quickly. If it took Bruce Wayne months to trust Miranda the movie would lag while it was establishing all that. Instead the writers just made it pretty automatic that Bruce would trust her right away so they didn’t have to spend the time establishing that trust in the movie…and could pull us in for the betrayal that would come later on.

In The Dark Knight Rises, How Is Feminism Used? I need specific examples of how gender roles, gender bias, aesthetics, stereotypes are present in TDKR? With all characters but especially with Selina Kyle and Miranda Tate/Taliah al Ghul, how do they use their gender to get what they want and to manipulate people?

    • Curator says:

Catwoman/selina Kyle uses her gender in many situations. For example, she seduces one of the police officers and tricks him into following her around. Also, there is a scene which she seduces an old man, and plans to steal the diamonds in his house.

Talia, literally sleeps with Bruce wayne and seduces him in order to gain his trust and gain control over wayne enterprises.

Any Batman Fanatics Or Batman Fandoms Want To Help Me With My Homework On The Dark Knight Rises? I’m my English class we are watching the dark knight rises. But we have to do a work sheet where we have to find certain interesting things. I need someone who understands this movie to the max with all it’s symbolism. I need to find little things that involve the literary criticism lenses suck as psychoanalytic, feminism, Marxism, new criticism, biographical, and archetypal. An example that I put down for femenism is Selina Kyle using her gender to disguise herself as a maid at Wayne manor. It can be little things that I can write down like that. Another thing is that I have to write down how the characters use fear to there advantage. Whether it be their own fears like batman was afraid of bats but made that alter ego of being batman, or using someone else’s fears againts them. I just need one example for these characters: batman/Bruce Wayne, bane, Selina Kyle, commissioner Gordon, Miranda Tate, Alfred, officer Blake and ra’s al ghul.

    • Curator says:

That's freaking awesome your class gets to watch TDKR in school.

The dark knight rises is a story of hope. Bane and talias mission was to destroy gotham. Not only did talia want to destroy gotham, and complete what her father wanted. She wanted to destroy Bruce wayne, and torture his soul because he killed her father. How did she attempt to do this? Bane says it best "in order to feel true despair there must be hope." Talia and bane make Bruce watch the destruction of the city that is so beloved to him.

Batman was a symbol of hope because in a city that was overrun with corruption and crime. He wanted to instill hope in a self destructing city. The point was that this city can be restored and all it takes is one person to make a change. When commissioner Gordon asked batman don't you want people to know who you were? He replies "A hero can be anyone, even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat on a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the

  • Superman Vs Batman? Your View? With the upcoming Batman vs Superman film I’m wondering what everyone else thinks, Superman vs Batman who would win? Here’s my view on the matter.

Firstly It’s important to consider that Batman and Superman are infact FRIENDS they’ve only fought when Supermans turned “Evil” or possessed by something, they’ve also battled over a clash of ideas. Usually people think Batman could take Superman due to having Prep time while I’m a Batman fan at heart I truely believe that isn’t the case, heres my reasons:

1, Superman has Super powers, end of story with the amount of abilities the man of steel possesses he could easily destroy Batman in a matter of seconds. Sure Batman has the knowledge and resoruces but Super powers would easily help Superman beat Batman.

2,Superman is an Alien and overly powered, the guys from a different planet at the end of the day. Batmans nothing but an human you strip down the suit and gadgets and all you have is an man.

3, Superman holds back against the Dark Knight, this has gotta be the reason Batsy has held his own aganist the Man of Steel the bottom lines is the two are friends and Superman wouldn’t go fully over on his friend. Batman knows this and has even said deep down Clark is a good person.

4,Kryptonite won’t put down Superman, it’s easy to say Batman would only have to shine a piece of the stuff and Superman would go down hard. That isn’t the case you’d need a large amount of the element to put down Superman. And anyway how easy is Kryptonite to find? It’s rare these days sure Superman gave Batman some to use aganist him if he ever went rouge but would he really give Batman the means to put him down forever? Probably not.

5,He’s too powerful for the Dark Knight, I’ve mentioned his powers once but that’s gotta be the deciding matter in this. Although Batman can take punishment Superman’s overall power would destroy the Batman. Superman is extremely clever and would be able to use his powers to his advantage.

Those are my reasons, honestly it’s my view that Superman would beat Batman but I’m not saying Batman couldn’t do it. It’s just very unlikely. Anyway what’s your view? Do you agree or disagree? And do you think I left any reasons out?

    • Curator says:

It’s not like Superman’s greatest and most persistent foe is a rich guy with no powers. oh wait …

anyway, Batman can win without fighting at all. Bruce Wayne could buy the Daily Planet, have the next day’s headline scream “CLARK KENT IS SUPERMAN”, then seduce Lois and fly to the French Riviera …

… and Supes would have two choices: 1) do nothing, and lose. 2) kill Bruce, thus becoming a villain, and lose even more.
